During the adolescence period, a transitional period between childhood and adulthood, these individuals come of age and experience physical developments in the coming years.

The most noticeable development is their growth spurt. At this time, their stable patterns of height and weight come to an end and they hit an abrupt growth change. Boys add an average of fourteen and a half inches to their height while girls add thirteen inches on average. After their height spurts, their weight follows. However, there Is no average weight gain told as each individual is differently based on how active they are and how much food they consume. The visual difference is found in how boy’s shoulders become broader as their body weight is more composed of muscle mass than girls whose weight is mostly fatty tissue. Both girls and boys reach their peaks of growth of height and weight during their adolescence stage.

Other physical developments during this stage is linked to puberty. In boys, after the age of fifteen, underarm, upper lip, and beard hair begins to be visible. In addition, their voice begins to deepen as a result of the growth of the larynx and lengthening of the vocal cords. In both females and males, this is a period when acne which affects 75 to 90% of adolescents.

Brain development is common in the teenage years in relation to maturation and the use of brain regions. It is said that adolescences are able to control how their brains are wired and sculptured. They are hand wiring their brains to certain tasks whether it be sports, music, academics, or laying on the couch playing video games. This affects each portion of the brain too as our text mentions that adolescents’ frontal lobes are less active and their amygdalas are more active which is why they often misread facial expressions and have poor judgement, insight, and reasoning ability (Rathus 465).

During adolescence, some individuals develop eating disorders as they are most concerned about their bodies. This is from the effects of puberty as it brings rapid changes to the teenagers and they worry about what others is viewing and thinking about them. These eating disorders can be argued that they come from societies stance on body image as we have cultural emphasis on slimness and the ‘perfect image’. Some examples of eating disorders are anorexia and bulimia.

The adolescence stage of development is an uncertain period of time when a person undergoes rapid physical change and matures mentally.
Firstly, a noticeable physical change is that in height and weight for both boys and girls. Girls growth spurts begin around 10 and for boys 12, by the end girls have grown a little more than 13 inches while boys add roughly 14 and a half inches on average. Moreover, gains in weight begin roughly a year and a half after growth spurts. Because of this adolescents tend to have lanky bodies as their height and weight don't match up until the later stages of adolescence.
Secondly, because of this change in height and weight the body shapes of boys and girls subsequently change as well. Boys shoulder develop more than girls whereas the reverse is true for hips as girls develop wider hips than boys. Furthermore, gains in fatty tissue is more prevalent in girls than boys giving them a more rounded body type whereas boys gain more in muscle. This is reflected in body weight as boys' is composed more of muscle mass compared to the fatty tissues for girls.
Thirdly, the appearance and growth of body hair particularly on men becomes prevalent. Underarm hair and facial hair begin to appear around the age of 15, however half of the American boys don't necessarily have to shave until around the age of 18. Beard and chest hair continue to develop past the age of 20 and into adulthood. Though not all males develop chest hair and facial hair or they develop in certain areas of the body at different rates.
This period in a child's life can be overwhelming and confusing. It is important for educators to note this and help children adapt and cope with societal pressures and physical expectations so that their students are better able to deal with the challenges of adolescence and their physical growth.

During this stage sweat and oil glands become more active which may result in acne. Body hair becomes more noticeable in both boys, facial hair, legs and underarms, and girls, underarms, whereas pubic hair forms on both. Weight and muscle gain and distribution also take affect, resulting in upper body strength and broad shoulders for boys, and increased fatty tissue deposits in the breasts and hips for girls.

The adolescence physical development change is when an individual undergoes change with their body and mentally as well.
There are many different changes that these individuals go through. One of them is, both females and males gain height and weight during this time. The males grow a bit taller than the females as they grow around 14 inches during this time and the females grow around 13 inches. Another way is, both genders body hair begin to take more part. Girls begin to get underarm hair and pubic hair, their hair becomes darker and thicker as the development goes on. For boys, they start to have pubic hair, legs start to have more hair as well as their underarms, and later on facial hair begins to form. Their hair also becomes more thicker and darker as time goes on. Lastly, for females as they get into their further stages they start to begin to have their period and becomes more regular as time goes on.

Puberty is happening. Puberty is controlled by a complex feedback loop involving the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, gonads, and hormones. For boys, hair starts to grow under the arm at about age 15, while facial hair will not start to grow till about 17 or 18. At age 14 or 15, is when you hear a change in their voice and they sound more like a young man. For girls, hair begins to grow at the age of 11 under the arm. A growth spurt will begin, with girls usually starting first. During a growth spurt boys and girls will grow for about two years before it comes to an end. Since they are growing sometimes they will begin to slim down and not look as heavy has they did.

Puberty is the main contributor to middle age child development. Puberty covers both mental and physical development and is a very complex process. Height and weight gain is very common during puberty in both male and female development. The males initially grow faster, but mentally the girls mature quicker. Physical differences also start to develop in both male and female bodies. Hair stars to develop on the males face and under arm and legs.

A lot of different changes happen to the adolescent body. Height and weight increase rapidly in both females and males. Hair also starts to grow in various areas depending on one's sex.
