Transformation: In this cartoon we can see the public’s opinion on Prince Andrew, and the royals in general, because of this information that has come to light. 

Communication: Due to failures of communication these groups of people don’t realize how important it is right now to listen to what scientists are telling us.

Communication: Djokovic is a famous tennis player who refuses to get vaccinated, communicating to his large following that it is not necessary and putting them at risk. 

Transformation: Democracy has transformed from a strong system that is meant to listen to the people, to a corrupted, bought off, and unstable system.

Culture: Present day culture has made society accept this kind of thing happening, when it is clearly wrong, unethical, and selfish. 

Culture: Our community’s culture has changed to accept the pandemic and gotten used to it while doing nothing to stop it and ignoring those dying. 

Transformation: The Covid-19 virus has transformed and evolved into different variants, which is being compared with Transformers as a Christmas present. 

Communication: Big companies, governments and people in general are extremely vocal about Covid restrictions, unless breaking the rules benefits them. 

In this case, the picture selected clearly involves how men, especially older men as they lived through the times where women were considered inferior, think the female gender’s only job should be in their households as a “chef” who must cover every need their husbands may have. The man’s mouth is speaking separately from what his brain thinks, an element that could mean the unfulfilled division between genders; the male person is debating whether to speak acconcordingly with his real thoughts, or just follow what the modern times has normalized them to do, that in this occasion portrays individuals who should enable women to have widely opportunities and not be segregated by a topic of gender or “male supremacy”.

I consider this could be related with the global issue of art, creativity and imagination because inspiration can be retrieved and perceptions can be definitely modified when paying attention closely to the facial expressions of each one of the characters presented in the cartoon; doctors are definitely scared, but they have a cause and an oath to protect their community, making us reflect on their importance for a beneficial transformation in society.

This cartoon is a clear representation of the type of life that the marine animals have and how excessive fishing is drastically affecting their lifestyle. On the other hand, the whale represents the ratio of its size compared to that of the cargo boat, thus giving us to understand that these artifacts are using almost the same space as this animal on the surface and therefore, spilling many pollutants such as oil and gasoline. This is why the cartoon whale says "I need physical distancing", implying that these substances are contaminating  and affecting its environment. On the other hand, this cartoon makes us understand a lot about the perspective that animals have regarding this problem, since many of us are aware of marine pollution. However, we are not aware that it goes beyond that, since not only are the oceans polluted, but the space that marine creatures need to live in freedom is invaded. This cartoon makes us see things from a different perspective, since we usually see it from a human perspective by thinking that fishing greatly benefits the markets and therefore the economy. But, in this case, the whale makes us understand its point of view by having to live under those terrible conditions to which they are subjected due to human activities that harm them.

This global issue is widely addressed in this cartoon, as it shows how science and technological advances made by human beings are seriously affecting the marine ecosystem. For example, by inventing cargo boats and fishing boats, negative consequences are being brought to the environment that drastically affect animals. This global issue should be more recognized by human beings, people should come up with solutions for this issue and use the technology they currently have to develop new methods of transport that do not pollute the environment. This way, a healthy ecosystem can be maintained for the different species that inhabit the oceans.

In this cartoon, the cupcakes represent the importance and recognition given to the first anniversary of a virus that infested the world and took countless lives. However, people overlook and do not take into account how many years ago another "pandemic" such as racism, has infected the world. Currently, people prefer to celebrate a virus that has infected the world with much more enthusiasm, but they do not recognize the pandemic of racism that they themselves have created towards a specific group of people. On the other hand, it should be emphasized that people currently count the days, months and years for this viral pandemic to end, but they do not count the years of suffering that millions of people throughout the history of humanity have experienced, since it is not something that affects the entire population equally. On the right, we can see a white cupcake with two black dots, this image represents the oppression, discrimination and racism that is made between one race towards another. Representing this way, the racism that has lasted for centuries until this day to the point of causing the death of millions of people of a specific race. Unlike this, on the left we can see a cupcake with the shape of a virus, thus representing how this affects the entire population equally regardless of race, nationality and ethnicity and that is why people currently give it greater importance unlike a pandemic that has lasted since the beginning of humanity.

Racism pretty much wraps around a person's beliefs, since someone who believes in racial equality would not feel the need to suppress or discriminate against a population that is of a different ethnicity and nationality than theirs. On the other hand, a person who was educated with the appropriate values ​​would not see anyone inferior to them for the simple fact of being different and therefore, they would not commit racist acts towards others. Also, it should be emphasized that a person who is well educated and aware of the problems of today's world not only involves a viral pandemic, but a much larger pandemic such as racism and discrimination.

This cartoon clearly represents how social media platforms that are supposed to be created with the purpose of connecting people and providing positive communication are making more harm than good by damaging people’s mental health. It is common to share posts and comments with people all around the world and receive feedback from others that often can be negative and harmful. People are being constantly exposed to offensive comments towards them  depending on their physical appearance and the "stereotype" others have regarding what is considered to be a perfect body. Comments like "you are not skinny enough" or "you are ugly" is considered to be cyberbullying and it is a digital threat that is worsening with time. Bad intentioned people are not taking into account the effect that this type of comments can have on people. It is disappointing to see how such a useful tool with great technology is sadly causing so many issues and amplifying other conditions like body dysmorphia.

It should be noted that people often use these platforms in the same way to negatively affect others through their comments and therefore, many human beings try too hard to fit in with the standards that society has set to follow. This is affecting people from all ages but it is even more preoccupying that younger generations are growing up with all these social media comparison leading them to reject who they really are in order to please people who do not agree with their way of being or the way they look.

Religion is a  big part of culture, since it has been instilled in us from a very young age by our parents, our ancestors, by school and even by society. People who strictly follow a religion (as in this case the pope in the cartoon) have a very solid idea about the biblical principles that were formed centuries ago. This is why people who follow religion closely often have a hard time opening up to new mindsets or new stereotypes. This is why people who follow the Catholic religion particularly do not accept same sex marriage, since they consider it unbiblical and that is why the pope also repudiates it.

In this case, the global issue focuses a lot on beliefs, since based on a person's beliefs and their ideals, they consider that same-sex marriage is something disgusting and that it is something wrong. This is why people who follow their values ​​and their education from a very young age by their parents regarding religion, consider that this act is something terrible and is not accepted by them as it is not accepted by their own religion. This issue affects a lot of people who want to marry who they love but they suffer because it is not allowed.

This cartoon relates to the racism commotion caused by Britain’s prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship  that led to media harassment. The media and journalists seemed to be more interested and attracted to exposing this story rather than focusing on real world problems like a covid relief bill for a global pandemic that was affecting countless lives around the world. This shows us how public figure’s news and gossip  are often considered  as more relevant and interesting than real global issues that don’t capture the most attention of viewers. Several TV outlets have seen a major profit in addressing famous people’s lives and often, they exaggerate their stories just to create more hype. They should be rather focusing on the most critical issues that humanity is currently facing.

In this case, we can see a clear example on culture, identity and community issues in this cartoon because it reflects what type of news the community and expectators prioritize. Nowadays our culture seems to be more oriented to being interested in popular gossip and famous people rather than in life threatening risks. Communities around the world are constantly giving so much power to the media by believing every story they tell. 

In this cartoon it is demonstrated the IB concept of "transformation", since it is shown how the polar bear on the left is standing on an almost non-existent piece of glacier while the polar bear on the right is standing on a pile of garbage . Based on this, we can see what the arctic poles are becoming due to pollution and global warming, as they are disappearing faster and faster to the point of leaving many species that reside at the poles homeless. On the other hand, we can notice how the polar bear on the right says "apparently his stuff will last 450 years", which makes us aware of the fact that the plastic that sails through the oceans to the poles is not going to decompose any sooner, causing those areas to be contaminated and soon garbage will predominate and not ice as the habitat of animals. The cartoon clearly shows us what the world is becoming due to negative human actions that contaminate it and therefore, it makes us understand how ugly the world is going to become for the animal world if we continue with these damaging acts and way of living.

This cartoon clearly involves the global issue of education, since poorly educated people are not aware of how their actions can damage nature and the environment on a large scale. Therefore, we can say that the lack of education leads people to be unconscious, reckless and inconsiderate with different species and even with the planet itself, since throwing garbage in places like the ocean leads to the increase in global warming that causes the poles thaw and therefore, different species that reside there such as polar bears have nowhere to live. On the other hand, the beliefs that people have that one more or one less bottle is not going to generate a drastic change in the environment can cause this habit of throwing garbage and not taking care of nature. If humans continue to be so inconsiderate and uneducated in planet preservation our world will reach a point where none of us will be able to live, we need to take action before it is too late. 

Greta’s cartoon represents one of the most critical global issues our world is facing right now, climate change. At such a young age, she has become a leading voice in the fight to protect our planet and has tried for so long to be heard by politicians but it seems no one has cared enough to do something about it. You can see her surrounded by a completely destroyed environment that reflects how our planet will end if we don’t take action and the white flower she is watering represents the hope she had for a better world. Her inner drive to help the planet has inspired millions to follow her footsteps but it is the people in power who can take the big and effective actions that our planet is screaming for. Political leaders need to take this global risk seriously for once and start implementing long lasting solutions in order to recover and restore what has been already lost and prevent future damage.

Climate change is a long term change in the planet that directly affects the natural world and all species living in it, including people which are the ones who have started human activities that destroy the planet we live in. We need to start believing in people who truly care about this issue like activist Greta, otherwise, sea levels, temperatures, wildfires and other factors will continue to worsen as the years pass by. With all the technology we have developed in the past decades we should be able to find great solutions for this global concern.

This cartoon demonstrates the global issue of science, technology and the natural world because vaccines are biological substances generated by scientists with the purpose of getting closer to the immunization of human beings against Covid-19. Because many people do not believe or trust science, they refuse to be vaccinated and thus, they are exposing themselves and those around them to contracting the virus that can cause the death of thousands of people. This is related to the cartoon presented since the people who are against the vaccine are causing the mortality rate to increase among human beings and therefore, that the virus continues to proliferate, mutate and contaminate new people and even people who have already contracted the virus before. In spite of all the technology that is currently used in scientific laboratories and the vaccines that they can create, these will be of no use if people refuse to be vaccinated and continue to spread the virus, since it will never "extinct" or the mortality rate will decrease.

This cartoon portrays a clear example of women in America are considered inferior than men. Throughout history, women have been fighting for their rights and until this day the fight is not over. There still exist a male supremacy mentality where men feel like women owe them something or like seen in the cartoon, that they only belong in the kitchen or being housewifes. Women are often seen as less capable or less intelligent than men that is why we are still experiencing salary gaps between the two genders despite all the improvement that has been made in the last decades. Women should be treated equally in all aspects and shouldn’t be facing conscious and unconscious discrimination in today’s culture.

This cartoon is directly linked to the vision most Americans have towards women, specially older men. Gender inequality is a global issue that many countries face, not only the United States. It affects the identity and self worth of women from different communities around the world and it is extremely important that we eradicate this wrong mentality because both genders are equally capable of doing the same things, jobs, activities and performing the same obligations.

This global issue is extremely related to science and technology due to the scientific investigation behind the vaccines and the development of the disease, it is also related to the natural world because of the zoonotic origin of this virus and the infection it has had on humans.

Science, technology, and environment: This global concept fits very well with the theme of the image because Greta has used her social media platform in every right way possible, while uploading videos, images and statements regarding her opinions and stated facts on the issues that should be fixed to be able to live in a clean and positive community. She has been heard due to her rightful use of technology for protection to the environment, its habitants (animals) and climate change. 

Science, technology and environment: This cartoon represents how complet and developed science is, how a virus can mutate into more than 2 new variants within a year. Technology has been of use during this pandemic, without it there would have been no studies, no solutions, no vaccines, etc. Lastly, I believe the environment did seem a little relieved because it was protected from humans that had to quarantine, it kind of had some time to breathe from constant pollution and damage. 

 

Science, technology, and environment: Technology is key in order to transmit a message or an injustice to the whole world, but when it comes to what is caught on camera is not comparable to what happens everyday. This cartoon expresses it in a very easy and understandable way. 

Culture, identity, and community: This global issue is represented because, mostly the culture we live in today is a very ignorant one, and communities decided to think that this virus was not dangerous and just be selfish, not wear masks and neither do the protocols of safety. Which leads to an apparent infinite virus, that just keeps getting worse and it never ends. 

Beliefs, values, and education: This global issue is easily connected with the  image above, because it takes well educated people to teach future generations on how to care for nature and animals, it only takes values of love, careness, resilience and compassion to change situations. Believing in a specific principle may change someone's life forever. 

 

Science, technology, and environment: Well the image represents a clear graphic on how important the internet and technology has become for society nowadays. It's considered weird to not be on websites like instagram, twitter, whatsapp, etc. However, this may become really toxic and provide negative comments, affecting one's life and personality in general. It's true that these help in the communication and contact from long distances, however people need to know that there is a limit and it should be respected. 

 

Politics, power and justice: The government and important people usually speak on how important it is to keep everyone safe but the cartoon demonstrates how these people besides voicing their concerns, they do the opposite when it may benefit their intereses. Individuals that have power, are normally the first ones to break rules and be corrupt. 

Beliefs, values and education: If a human being is raised correctly with all of the virtues and values that are provided to you when little so you can learn them and become a decent person, then you should be able to find a difference and understand that violence is never the correct way, neither making somebody feel unsafe. Loving and supporting your family is key to happiness in most cases, feeling comfortable and safe inside your own house should become the family's main purpose in life. 

Beliefs, values and education: As i've said before, when people grow and receive correct education on how to protect and not contaminate our world, then everything might be different, valuing nature and its habitants, whales are part of them, as well as the rest of the marine species that might be affected by this problematic.

We observe how a paper is being burned once it gets out of the toaster, this being Trump. Injustices were made by him and seen by him but he did not do anything about them. Politics were a complete comedy regarding how he ruled the country or at least a majority of the people believed this.

Covid-19 is the new viral disease that has been spreading since 2019 and since then, it has been affecting millions of persons around the world, and since then we have seen many advances in technology to develop a vaccine that can help humans.

Nowadays society has giving bad beliefs and values that have caused incrementation of cases of Racism, but it’s has not only spread in social Media, but also in a daily basis, in work, in gyms, schools, colleges, etc.

Global Issue: It probably has to do with the problem of how much faith people have in their country or political views, being able to see the faults and flaws of their ideologies, but not knowing when too let go from the flawed ideas.

Global Issue: Global issue is the lack of actual influence or change that can be done by a public figure such as the president, also could have something to do with the little to no changes that one presidency can be in comparison with the last one.

Global Issue: The ignorance and lack of individuality, in this case this people are quick to follow a figure that shares their ideology, even when that person has a clear record of questionable behavior, comments and actions that they have committed. 

Global Issue: The lack of transparency or respect towards the voting rights of people, in this case tampering or neglecting with voting systems or wanting to commit actions such as physical commotions to get people to not vote

Global Issue: The misleading and misinformation of the masses, can cause them to believe information without any support or evidence, and when proven wrong, they are dumbfounded or taken a back by real information, or would rather just ignore facts and logic.

Global Issue: Fake media and miscommunication, they are both global issues that have become a lot more evident during the global pandemic of covid-19 with a lot of fake and unreliable information being quickly spread.

Global Issue: The lack of reach is the only downside of technology, as there is only so much that can be shown through videos, and these videos attract more cases because people are not able to see the reality and what happens everyday because the cases are usually hidden or go to a different direction.

Global Issue: The global issue found could be domestic abuse, as the woman and the little kid seem to feel even more confined and can be seen as scared of the man in the living room, depicting how domestic abuse may look like.

Global Issue: Global warming and pollution are the biggest problems as they have caused great losses to humanity, from animal species to damage to flora and fauna that could never be fixed or brought back.

Global Issue: The global issue of this image is politics, power and justice, in this case the mishandle of these responsibilities and opportunities to save lives and protect people, instead they have been misused and caused many great losses.

In this cartoon we see the recognized tennis player Novak Djokovic, who by his beliefs refuses to get vaccinated and is putting in danger people surrounding him and others, as he is a way for the virus to spread and attack other people who are weaker with other diseases that can kill them.

Djokovic is transmitting this image, that if someone doesn´t want to get vaccinated they can refuse easily, but this will only generate chaos and tension between citizens and more cases of Covid.

The theme of the image is how Greta Thunberg used social media in a very productive way. She used her social media to upload content to state facts about how to live in a clean and positive community. Thanks to her campaign, she fostered the right use of social media

The deterioration of the environment is the issue that has the greatest impact on everyone, particularly those who live in the area and rely on our actions to survive. We can plainly distinguish Greta Thunberg as the only one whose goal is to make a difference in the environment in this cartoon, yet she is only depicted planting in a single part of a larger contaminated area.
