         <title>Cyanosis</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>Definition<ul><li>A bluish color to the skin or mucous membrane is usually due to a lack of oxygen in the blood.&nbsp;</li><li>Blood that has lost its oxygen is dark bluish-red. People whose blood is low in oxygen tend to have a bluish color to their skin.&nbsp;</li></ul></li><li>FOUR types of cyanosis<ul><li><strong>Peripheral cyanosis</strong><ul><li>Your limbs are not getting enough oxygen or blood flow due to low flow or injury</li></ul></li><li><strong>Central cyanosis</strong><ul><li>There is low overall oxygen available to the body, often due to abnormal blood proteins or a low oxygenstate</li></ul></li><li><strong>Mixed cyanosis</strong><ul><li>A combination of peripheral and central cyanosis occurs at the same time</li></ul></li><li><strong>Acrocyanosis</strong><ul><li>This happens around your hands and feet when you're cold, and should resolve after you warm back up</li></ul></li></ul></li><li>Common causes<ul><li>Shocks</li><li>Heart attack</li><li>pulmonary embolism</li></ul></li><li>Symptoms<ul><li>This is manifested by bluish or purple discoloration of tongue and lips and mucous membranes of the mouth.</li><li>This deoxygenated venous blood instead of going to the lungs for oxygenation moves to the general blood circulation of the body leading to symptoms of cyanosis</li></ul></li><li>Treatment<ul><li>&nbsp;Doctor recommends&nbsp; depend on the underlying cause of your cyanosis.</li></ul></li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>Definition<ul><li>Yellowing of the skin and eyes</li><li>Jaundice forms when there is too much bilirubin in your system. Bilirubin is a yellow pigment that is created by the breakdown of dead red blood cells in the liver.</li></ul></li><li>Newborn jaundice<ul><li>Newborn jaundice is a common condition that occurs when a baby has a high level of bilirubin in the blood soon after birth.</li><li>Very high levels of bilirubin can put a baby at risk for deafness, cerebral palsy, or other forms of brain damage, so jaundice should be carefully monitored if it occurs after birth.</li></ul></li><li>Breast milk jaundice<ul><li>Usually, it doesn't cause any problems and eventually goes away on its own.</li></ul></li><li>Causes of Jaundice<ul><li>Alcohol misuse</li><li>Liver cancer</li><li>Hepatitis A,B,C,D,E</li><li>Pancreatic cancer</li></ul></li><li>Symptoms<ul><li>Yellow-tinted skin and eyes characterize jaundice. In more severe cases, the whites of your eyes may turn brown or orange. You may also have dark urine and pale stools.</li><li>Some people misdiagnoses themselves when they experience yellow skin. People who have jaundice usually have both yellow- colored skin and yellow eyes</li></ul></li><li>Treatment<ul><li>The type of treatment your healthcare provider recommends for jaundice depends on its cause. Your healthcare provider will treat the cause of the jaundice, not the symptom itself.
