For example, they created the numerals that we use today and used that to make Algebra and Trigonometry. Furthermore, they explored a lot in the subject of Anatomy and explored a lot in the human body. They were one of the earliest people to study and explore germs and often used cataract surgery. Additionally, they were into Astronomy and developed some early theories about the universe and the stars. According to the New York Times, "Among the first works rendered into Arabic was the Alexandrian astronomer Ptolemy's ''Great Work,'' which described a universe in which the Sun, Moon, planets and stars revolved around Earth; Al-Magest, as the work was known to Arabic scholars, became the basis for cosmology for the next 500 years." The scholars were brilliant because they had discovered this in the midst of the dark age. They were years ahead of the West for Astronomical exploration. There was always need for new innovation whether it be with medical revolutions such as cataracts, something like algebra, or something universal like paper. In addition to this, in there being a constant flow of thinkers from every region of the world, peoples ideas were constantly reflected off of one another, resulting in a self sustained flow of ideas. With issues came thinkers, with thinkers came ideas, and with ideas came more thinkers, and more ideas about the previous ideas.
