I value communal world-building and equal collaboration in terms of verbal input, feedback, ideas, and suggestions. I have struggled slightly with certain groups where the majority of the team is more reserved and quiet when it comes to brainstorming and generating content. This has been a challenge for me, because it puts me in the position to be the leader who is the one who is speaking up and taking initiative. While I am happy to exercise my brain and try to think outside of the box, I prefer a creative environment where all voices are heard and contribute. I have been having a hard time trying to support others in feeling comfortable enough to share their thoughts, but am unsure how to provoke that within them, which is a learning opportunity for me. One example of this would be during the playwriting section were we were assigned to write a 5 minute performance with a partner. The path toward a great design is what leads to the great design to begin with, and I learned this semester that I didn’t value the process as much as the end product. This was more apparent to me during the design module, where we were assigned to create a box filled with objects from my morning. I noticed within myself that I put more care and attention into how the final box will look, as opposed to the journey of picking which objects really told a true, accurate story of my morning and being purposeful that each decision I made had the intent to add onto the story, instead of it just looking nice. This was a big moment of realization of my artistic process that I will definitely carry with me in the future, as I will try to be better with each new project.]]> 2023-03-22 02:04:49 UTC https://padlet.com/anaolara1/m1y2foe67ny83ssa/wish/2526376740 anaolara1 https://padlet.com/anaolara1/m1y2foe67ny83ssa/wish/2526381034 Collaborating with my cohort has morphed my aesthetic artistic process a little, especially in the devising workshop, as well as some of my other theatre classes. I have always drawn inspiration from visuals such as color, texture, shape, tone, etc. However, I learned that writing down words/vocabulary with my group has really enriched my research and approach toward creating a fleshed out world. Writing down on the big sheets of paper with my team was a generative process that really got my brain working, which was a nice change compared to more sensory characteristics. Words is a universal shared vocabulary that grounds ideas in ways other more abstract approaches can’t. An example of where we practiced this was for each of the devising pieces we were assigned at the very beginning of the semester.
