This painting is a representation of what unites lovers, because the most arduous, the most difficult stories are those that nourish a true, unfiltered feeling. This kiss between the two lovers is a disturbing image, which speaks of death, inability to communicate behind their shrouds, silent love.
The music: https://youtu.be/VU0c_Hyw718
-Lucafó Valeria

Realised in 1889.
In the Self-Portrait with the blindfolded ear, the cold colors predominate, which give an even more melancholy note to the painting, accentuated by the use of bumpy brushstrokes, which linger on each bone. The artist's face is indeed haggard and bony, with the complexion defined by a waxy yellow, and his gaze felled and lost in a vacuum almost seems to sink into imaginary worlds where he can evade from the label of "crazy" that society has imposed on him. Fascinated by the educational process and the theoretical work in Bauhaus, the painter continued his research on the interaction and the influence of the main elements of the canvas, the colours and forms.

The painter brought to life his own theoretical studies in his “Several Circles”. Deliberately limited himself only with one form, the circle, Kandinsky focused all his attention on other aspects such as colours and masses and their relative position on the canvas which determine the composition.

Hagia Sophia has been a church for 916 years, then converted into a mosque and served Muslims for 481 years.
The works were commenced on December 23, 532 AD and completed on December 27, 537.
Besides the unique architecture of the building, the mosaics are also important artifacts of the period. The oldest mosaics may be found in the inner narthex as well as in side naves. Figural mosaics from the 9th – 12th centuries are located on Emperor Door, exit doors and upstairs gallery.
After the conquest of Istanbul in 1453, the so-called “Turkish period” started, and several repairs were made in Hagia Sophia. The sure is taken from the Koran inscribed on rounded plates of 7.50 diametres by Kazasker Mustafa İzzet Efendi, a famous Ottoman calligrapher. The names of Allah, Muhammed, Ömer, Osman, Ali, Hasan, Ebu Bekir and Hüseyin are inscribed there. On the sidewalls of mihrab there are plates written and granted by Ottoman sultans.
Tombs of Sultan Selim II, Sultan Mehmet III, Sultan Murat III as well as some of their relatives, the fountain of Sultan Mahmut I, may be found in the territory of Hagia Sophia Museum. All of the above-mentioned objects, especially the tombs with their interior design, pottery and architecture are excellent examples of Ottoman tradition.
-Elif Selcen Aydın

FIRST LOOK: lines and colors

DETAILS: forms of contrast now constitute the dynamic balance of the works, the large circle at the top left plays against the network of precise lines on the right side of the canvas.
Kandinsky uses different colors in the shapes to emphasize their geometry: a yellow circle, a blue halo with a yellow halo; a right angle full of blue and an acute angle of pink color. The background also works to improve the dynamism of the composition. The layered background colors: blue at the bottom, light yellow at the top and white in the middle, define these depths. The shapes tend to recede and advance within this depth, creating dynamism.

HISTORY: the work reflects the influence of suprematism and constructivism absorbed in Russia by Kandinsky before his return to Germany.

TECHNIQUE: oil on canvas

- Barbara Bison

THE BASILICA CISTERN

One of the magnificent ancient buildings of İstanbul is the Basilica Cistern located in the southwest of Hagia Sofia. Constructed for Justinianus I, the Byzantium Emperor (527-565), this big underground water reservoir is called as “Yerebatan Cistern” among the public because of the underground marble columns.Except couple of the edged and grooved columns of the cistern, majority of them are shaped as a cylinder. Two Medusa heads, which are used as supports under the two columns at the northwest edge of the cistern, are the great work of art from the Roman period. What attracts most attention from the visitors is that the structure from which the Medusa heads have been taken is unknown. As the legend has it, Medusa is one of the three Gorgonas that are female monsters in the underground world in Greek mythology. The snake-head Medusa, one of the three sisters, has the power of gorgonising the ones that happen to look at her. Accordingly, Gorgone paintings and sculptures were being used for protecting big structures and special venues in that time. The Basilica Cistern is currently operated by Kültür A.Ş. (Culture Co.), one of the affiliates of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, the Basilica Cistern functions as a museum and is the home for many national and international events.

You can travel The Basilica Cistern from this link : https://www.mekan360.com/sanaltur_yerebatan-sarnici_1641.html
- Elifnaz Yakar

These mosaics are about 2000 years old and unique in design, color and perfection. These little stones witness to history. Also this museum does a stellar job of displaying one of the world's most important mosaic collections, most of which was unearthed at the Roman site of Belkıs-Zeugma and brought to safety before the Birecik Dam flooded much of the site forever.

The original royal castle of Přemysl Otakar II from the second half of the 13th century was rebuilt at the end of the 16th century by the Lords of Hradec. It received its present appearance under Count Jan Adam of Schwarzenberg. According to the English Windsor example, architects Franz Beer and F. Deworetzky built a Romantic Neo-Gothic chateau, surrounded by a 1.9-square-kilometre (0.73 sq mi) English park here in the years 1841 to 1871. In 1940, the castle was seized from the last owner, Adolph Schwarzenberg by the Gestapo and confiscated by the government of Czechoslovakia after the end of World War II. The castle is opened to public. There is a winter garden and riding-hall where the Southern Bohemian gallery exhibitions have been housed since 1956. The castle has been used in a scene of the movie Shanghai Knights. The castle has also been used as a location for the Eastern Coven in the movie Underworld: Blood Wars. In 2019, K-pop soloist Park Jihoon released his song L.O.V.E. and the music video was filmed in the castle.
- M. Umlaufová, ZŠ Na Podlesí Kadaň

Ancient name Assos, also known as Behramkale, is a village in the Ayvacık district of Cankkale in the North Aegean. M. HistoryHe. 6.it dates back to the century. According to archaeological studies, it is known that the city was founded towards the sea, and that it was descended to the sea through terraces. However, during the Ottoman period, the settlement was established in the opposite direction, towards the hill, and the village of Behramkale emerged. It is known that the city was built on an extinct volcanic hill with a height of 236 meters from the sea, and that the surrounding andesite stone was used in the construction. The ancient city of Assos became famous as the region where Aristotle founded the school of philosophy. In addition, the Temple of Athena, which means “first” in Greek, at the highest point of the city, has passed into mythology with the famous “beauty contest”. The contest was held between the Greek goddesses Hera, Aphrodite and Athena, and the result of this contest was the cause of the Battle of Troy, which became epic in the language of the famous poet Homer. -Gökçe Yardaş
