The next day, Watson and Holmes check the rooms at 221B Baker Street and then move in. Holmes appears quiet and sometimes tries to offer to take his medication. Watson draws up a list of Holmes' knowledge: poisons, chemistry, sensational literature and British law. Watson also remarks that Holmes is known to visitors from all walks of life. One morning, Watson reads an article that talks about how much an observant person can learn simply by exploring everything around him. When Watson starts laughing at the article, Holmes says that he wrote it. Holmes explains that he uses his theories about surveillance to earn a living as a consulting detective. Holmes' visitors are clients, and often Holmes solves their problems without even leaving the apartment. When Watson expresses disbelief, Holmes explains the findings that told him that Watson was in Afghanistan. Watson then mentions his favorite literary detective stories, but Holmes neglects them. To change the subject, Watson points to a man walking down the street. Holmes identifies the man as a retired Marine sergeant, and soon the man knocks on their door and hands Holmes a letter.

Predictions for chapter 2:
I suppose that in next chapter Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson will try to watch each other living together, try to notice something unusual in a new acquaintance and somehow even get closer.
Predictions for chapter 3:
I think that in chapter 3 we will see Dr. Watson, who becomes interested in Sherlock's experiments and experiences and decides to join him in order to learn something new together.
Predictions for other chapters:
I hope that in other chapters Sherlock Holmes finally will talk about how he so easily finds out all the necessary information about people, how he finds all the clues so quickly and understands what they relate to. I think that Sherlock will help Dr. Watson to understand other people better and also try to understand himself. During the investigation of various crimes, they will become very close, because solving murders is not so easy and it puts a lot of pressure on the psyche.
I can predict that in the other chapters they will investigate high-profile crimes that no one could handle. One of the most important murders will be a ruthless killer who will very cleverly deal with his victims, leaving no evidence or clues.

Holmes reads a note from a Scotland Yard detective. Gregson asks Holmes for help in the mysterious death of Enoch Drebber, who was found in an empty house. In a house in Brixton, two men show Holmes and Watson a body in the dining room. The cause of death remains unclear, because they still cannot understand what happened. As they try to move the body, the wedding ring falls to the floor. Gregson informs Holmes that he has been approached with questions about Drebber and another person whose name we can find in the letter on the body. Lestrade discovers the word "rach" on the wall. While Lestrade is presenting his hypothesis, Holmes looks around the room carefully. At the end, Holmes says that Drebber was poisoned by the man with whom he drove up to the house in a cab. He shares some physical details about the killer.
