The Notebook begins with the story of Noah Calhoun, a rural Southerner returned home from World War II. Noah, thirty-one, is restoring a plantation home to its former glory, and he is haunted by images of the beautiful girl he met fourteen years earlier, a girl he loved like no other. Unable to find her, yet unwilling to forget the summer they spent together, Noah is content to live with only memories. . . until she unexpectedly returns to his town to see him once again. Allie Nelson, twenty-nine, is now engaged to another man, but realizes that the original passion she felt for Noah has not dimmed with the passage of time. Still, the obstacles that once ended their previous relationship remain, and the gulf between their worlds is too vast to ignore.

1) I usually dont cry, but this book brought tears to my eyes. Nicholas Sparks made this novel hard to put down. –Alison Kelly

2) It was such a memorable book, from the plot, ending, characters. It was just so beautiful to see a real life fairy tale unwind. For every chapter you read, you get more and more interested in the book and Nicholas Sparks does an amazing job of adding that tiny bit of drama, yet not making it too dramatic. You can feel the emotions and I frankly have yet to find an actual book that can communicate feelings as vividly as Nicholas Sparks had. The themes of happiness, sadness, love, and faith really do come to show with the fate of these characters. –Jessica Sang

3) I was very excited to read this book after I saw the movie. Unfortunately, I found it much less interesting than the movie. I enjoyed the way the author describes the love that Allie and Noah had, but I would really recommend that you watch the movie afterwards so that the disappointment isn't as great. -Karen Yingling

1) I did not like it. The main idea is fine, but it ends up boring. I was very excited when I started reading it, something different was waiting for me. -Cyssie

2)Great book, I totally did not know this saga and the truth is that it has surprised me a lot. With a different story and characters that fall in love. Simply addictive. -Carla

3) Reading goes by very quickly. It is entertaining even if I can't connect with any character ... Some things are missing but I guess it is complemented in the other two books of the saga. In general, it is a good book. I highly recommended. -Isco

There we can find hidden pieces of culture, art or different types of stories that could broaden our actual culture. Is very important to turn back to our origins and value all we have learned. Being more curious about reading could improve our knowledge and emotional intelligence, making us more integral citizens.
