The mouth is the first stage in digestion. It is wear you first ingest the food.
It breaks down food mechanically by chewing it down,
it also contains saliva which contains enzymes to further break down the food specifically starches.(Chemically)
In the mouth the tongue shapes food into a ball called a bolus

The Stomach

The stomach is located in the upper abdomen on the left side of your body. It digests food mechanically and chemically. The stomach contracts while releasing pepsin and stomach acid. Stomach acid breaks down food and maintains a pH of 3 so that the enzyme pepsin can function. Pepsin is an enzyme that breaks down proteins into amino acids. It has 3 layers of muscle. The innermost layer is protected by mucus so that the stomach doesn’t digest itself.

Small Intestine

The small intestine's function is to break down food, absorb nutrients the body needs(such as proteins,lipids, carbs), and excrete unnecessary components. The small intestine is located inside your abdominal cavity. The small intestine has a smaller diameter than the larger intestine.

Esophagus

A tube that has Muscles in it to move Boluses down to your stomach from your mouth.
Includes the trachea that is the tube that bring oxygen to the lungs.
It is blocked by the epiglottis when eating.
In the esophagus wave like muscle motion called Peristalsis help move the food down.

Large Intestine

The purpose of the large intestine is to absorb water and salt, and get rid of any waste products left over. The large intestine is also located in your abdominal cavity. The larger intestine has a larger diameter than the small intestine.
