In the meeting with my group members earlier this morning, we discussed issues of interest and what we wanted to produce for the project. Throughout the group meeting, I realized that as a second language learner, I often find it challenging to fully grasp the nuances of communication, especially in new or technical contexts. Although I recorded the group meetings and turned on translation software to prevent errors in my understanding, I think these programs can only help me partially but I will still need to rely on group members to explain things to me individually if I don't understand them. Fortunately, I am very glad to have such kind group members to help each other.

I think the prerequisite for using AI tools like ChatGPT is that we need to have our own knowledge about the topic. However, there is no denying that these kinds of software do help me cross these language barriers and contribute meaningfully to our discussions.

With ChatGPT, I engage in real-time conversations with other team members, seeking clarity on complex ideas and refining our project goals. As a second language learner myself, I know that text alone is not as effective as more visual elements. So as I navigate the intricacies of language and communication, I feel that there is a place for multimodality in my further project. By integrating a variety of visual and textual elements, we can effectively communicate our message to diverse audiences, transcending language barriers and enhancing engagement.

Experience:

Today, I still work on my morning to further our group project, focusing on my assigned task of exploring Copy.ai as a problem-based learning tool. Today was mostly about providing my preconceived thoughts on the content of Copy.ai as a creative tool for language learners as well as doing data collection and sharing.

Digital Technologies and AI Usage:

Utilizing Google Docs, our group and I collaborated seamlessly in refining project goals and integrating research findings. Real-time sharing and editing features facilitated efficient communication, allowing us to streamline our workflow and stay organized.

In addition, I interacted with ChatGPT 3.5 to seek insights and inspiration for enhancing our project content. I felt that ChatGPT was usually more vague in providing answers, giving the impression that his answers did not narrow down the exact point of view of things enough. It required my own sober thinking to drive him to expand down the layers before I could gain valuable insights and generate new ideas through interaction with ChatGPT, enriching our brainstorming and refining our infographic.

Elements:

Intensity: As I delved into the intricacies of Copy.ai and problem-based learning, I realized that the information I had previously sought out may have been too broad, and not much could really be used in infographic. There were a lot of reviews on the web, but most of them were not very informative. This also somewhat fueled my creativity and drive for excellence. I am going to test and use it from a language learner's point of view myself and by contacting second language learners around me. Hopefully, this will make it easier for me to get reliable data and information.

Disruptions:: Despite my focus on the summer program, I encountered disruptions in my life and my mind. Actually, I felt a little bit lost these days because this semester is quite short. Each assignment comes so soon and I was not sure of what I should do before having a meeting with our professor on May 14th. I realized that growing up means that one learns to deal with more than one issue at the same time. I quickly adjusted to this by dealing with life's little setbacks while keeping my head above water in the midst of trivial distractions. Reflecting on today's experience, I realize the need to improve my time management skills in order to effectively overcome distractions and stay productive in a dynamic work environment.

Module 3 had 2 new sections, Prototype and Insights of Our Challenge. We first decided on the templates for our mindmap and the prototype together and clarified what each person should do in further days. Everything seems to go more smoothly this week!

James gave the idea of using Otter.ai to help with organizing information from our further interviews while Veronica has lots of experience using Canva. She taught us various ways of Canva application. I think the link to YouTube videos is really useful! I notice that the templates in Canva are really nice and well-organized but sometimes a little bit not so spacious for me to put my ideas in. Thanks Veronica, I learn now! I can put links under different sections and titles. That's helped me a lot.

I hope I could try more while making our prototype! And I would like to search for some videos and websites for the section I chose. What's on my mind now is videos related to the creativity of teachers' AI use and the data privacy of AI applications.

The interconnectivity is reflected in how closely our team works together and assigns roles. Veronica's experience with Canva, in particular, allowed her to teach us various ways to apply it, which greatly enhanced productivity.

Multimodality was evident in our use of Canva for visual presentations and watching YouTube videos to learn. Although Canva's templates were sometimes short on space, adding links allowed for a more organized and creative organization of information, and James recommended Otter.ai as a webpage that allowed the students in charge of the interviews to summarize the interview information in a more convenient and intuitive way.

Through a combination of interconnectivity and multimodality, our work becomes more efficient and creative. I look forward to continuing to explore these elements to make the project even better.

Logic: logic is a crucial part when dealing with a large amount of information from different sources in this module. I need to stay organized to sort and analyze data from interviews, reviews, and digital tools.

Multimodality: multimodality continues to be an important factor this time around, as I'm using different types of media and communication methods. Information is captured and presented through videos (YouTube), text (online reviews, interview content, Otter.ai), and visual presentations (Canva). The use of multimodality helped me to more fully understand and communicate relevant information about our research question.

As a second language learner, I also face translanguaging between Chinese and English, code-switching, etc.

Beyond that, my search for information related to the use of Copy.ai and its benefits involved the need to integrate data from different sources, such as peer reviews, websites, user reviews, and content generated by ChatGPT. So interconnectivity helps me integrate and utilize this information effectively.

All in all, this module let me know more details about the technologies and AI that I, as both a teacher and student, could use during the language learning process. I hope I could apply them more and further improve my language skills, especially the writing skill!

Time flies, and it's hard to believe our group project is already over. Just now, Sara submitted our final group assignment.

Throughout this journey, I experienced so much and learned a great deal from my peers.

Two key elements that stood out were interconnectivity and multimodality. Interconnectivity was evident as we seamlessly collaborated across various platforms, ensuring our ideas and efforts were unified. Multimodality allowed us to enhance our project using different forms of media—images, audio, videos, and AI tools—creating a richer, more engaging experience for everyone involved.

The joy of integrating technology into our work has been immense, and I've gained valuable skills and insights. I'm excited to continue using these tools in future projects and teaching.
