Today in choreography class we experimented with improvisational yoga. I think that this was something a little different for our level and that the finished product on Kram's instagram came out nice! I think that it was a healthy exercise that made everyone feel positive and well restored. From watching the video I think that if I would have done more floor stretches, abdominal strengthening tools such as a head stand it could have made my improvisation a little more interesting. I also think that if I would have taken more time in each position instead of rushing to get into a different one that it could have helped the improvisation.

Today in choreography class we had to create a piece with two other classmates about a recent issue in the news. We decided to do ours about school shootings because they are happening more often and we felt like it was an important topic. From watching the video I think that I could use less movement and just make myself as a character more crazy with minimal movement. The class also suggested to not actually make a gun with my hands and to find a way to kill Lia without actually showing a gun. I think that from watching the video that our story was clear but that we have areas that could use improvement to make the story even clearer without being too literal.

Today in choreography we researched Yvonne Rainer and were instructed to construct a short piece of choreography inspired by her movement. I noticed that she used a lot of arms and "free" movements. She never really had a set idea of what she was doing, it seemed like she was a little lost in her dancing. It seemed as if she was discovering what her body was capable of as a dancer so that is what I tried to portray in my movement.

Today I am reflecting upon a video of Yvonne Rainer! We were told to set a piece of choreography inspired by her. From watching this video it can be said that she was a very "free" dancer and that she used minimal movement. It almost looked as if she was lost and just discovering her body and what it could do for the first time. It is crazy how much the modern world has developed!!!!!

Today I am reflecting upon a video that I found on YouTube! I thought that it was something different and had a good use of repetition and of background. The background and costume help create an eerie feeling behind the dancer. The dancer is also performing very eerie, sharp, and dark movement. I found it different because normally modern dance isn't very eerie and thought it was interesting to see how unique each piece is in modern dance.
