Han Dynasty: 206 BCE-220 CE

Warring States Period: 700-221 BCE

Confucianism and Daoism Developed: 500 BCE

Confucius was a teacher and people came from all over to study with him. Confucius made rules for his students. His rules taught his students the way people should behave. His students had to learn his many rules and always obey them. His teachings are called Confucianism. Daoism is a philosophy that believes people should free themselves from worldly desires and become one with nature.

Legalism Developed: 250 BCE

Legalism is a philosophy that believes humans are naturally evil and that strict laws and harsh punishments were the only way to keep people in line.

Qin Dynasty: 221-210 BCE
