They had fun creating a life-size skeleton, and if a group project wasn't their thing, they created their own using pasta! They also used an Oreo cookie to visually see how the vertebrae could be damaged by something traumatic!

Students created natural history museum exhibits displaying ancient bones from a skeleton discovered in an archeological dig. They watched a video about what ancient bones can tell about how they lived. Students also did some research about ancient bones to use in developing their exhibit. They had the option to use play-doh or print the bones on the 3-D printer. At the end of the project, students voted for the best project in their class and will be voting for the overall outstanding exhibit.

Students researched goniometers. They chose between different joints (i.e. wrist, shoulder, elbow, etc) and watched videos on different measurements for their choice. Students then took those measurements on a partner using a goniometer. At the end, students answered reflection questions on Canvas.

Students learned about the different styles of Acrostic Poetry. They used skeletal system vocabulary words to create their own Acrostic poem. Students chose an Acrostic style, poetic devices, used Medical Terminology notes, personification and medical images to produce their poems. Students had fun personifying their poems because it required them to think like their parts and attempt to describe themselves in a poetic way. Poetry pieces will be displayed and students will participate in a gallery walk and vote for the best poems.

Students were able to observe the correlation of the phosphoric acid in coca cola and the calcium in milk. The students also read an article titled " Soda and Osteoporosis: Is There a Connection?" on WebMd. Through the experiment students were able to see how some soda did breakdown the "bone" but after reading the article they learned there was no true scientific evidence of this connection. It helped lead into discussions on anatomy of the body and different organs affected by the over consumption of soda.
