Hokusai, K 1829, The Great Wave of Kanagawa
Of all the images this week I decided to choose this one. I thought this one was simple yet beautiful. It doesn't use every color from the rainbow, but there is an array of greens, blues, tans, whites, and grays. I think this picture shows two sides of nature, you can see the obvious waves. But there is also what looks like to be a mountain in the background.

This week I was able to watch a video on how "The Great Wave" was created. I really like Japanese art. The image is actually a carving on wood. Hokusai comes from a traditional background and he wanted to convey traditions and originality with this piece.

There is always something keeping you on your toes. Something I don't particularly like about it is the acting, it's not the best but the show is very good. Another thing I really enjoy about the show is the theme of it. Dexter kills people because he feels like he was born to do so. I chose "Lion Club" from metmuseum.com. It is made out of quartz and is from the early Dynasty One, approximately 3100-2900 B.C. It's important because it was made during the time that the process of integrating lower and upper Egypt into one state. This is the time that artists in Egypt started learning how to sculpt in hard stone. Times were definitely changing in Egypt, and there was art being made in a new way.
