Payton Gendron was racist towards black people and decided to commit a hate crime by murdering 13 people. He went to court for his crime and got asked questions. The judge asked him why he killed them if it was because of their race and he said "yes". He then pleaded guilty to what he did. Racism could go in many ways verbally abusing it or choosing violence. Race played a role in how people reacted to it by showing the hatred they have for these racist people and how they think it's not okay to have those manners just because of a person's skin color. Race influenced how we covered the story by showing the racism there is towards black people and how they chose violence in this story. Many people in the world right now are still racist and they are ignorant because they simply don't care how disrespectful they act toward a colored person. Even with people protesting I don't think that makes any change. It reveals how many Americans just don't think about problems like these because they are ignorant.
