1) Stat Hook:

Everything Everywhere All At Once, which beat Avatar to win best picture at the Oscars, has earned well over 100 million dollars despite the films roughly 15 million dollar budget. Compare that with James Cameron’s recent film, Avatar: The Way of Water, which cost a mindblowing 250 million dollars yet still fell short of best picture. These facts suggest that the academy and critics are tired of box-office juggernaut and are more moved by film’s that return to a more raw and honest form of filmmaking (Wilkinson).

2) Fun-fact Hook:

Did you know that Jackie Chan was Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan’s first choice for the hero in the word of mouth sensation, Everything Everywhere All At Once (Barker)? It’s true! Despite not landing their first choice, 60 year old Michelle Yeoh’s nuanced performance earned her an Oscar for best actress at the 2023 awards ceremony (Wilkinson).

3) Fun-fact Hook:

If a director took 12 years to make a movie and another took only 40 days, which do you think would win best picture of the year? Most of us would bank on the former taking home Oscar’s biggest prize, but we’d be wrong! Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan’s multiverse epic took home the golden statue despite its efficient 40 day timeline; whereas, Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water took 12 years yet still fell short.

4) Stylistic Hook:

In an age when technology can bring a bloodthirsty Tyrannosaurus Rex to life or launch futuristic space-crafts, it’s rare to find box-office hits that don’t take advantage of these techniques. Unlike most Hollywood directors who create glittering movies and television that transport viewers into pristine, conventional stories, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert choose to march to their own home-made and wonderfully strange drum.

1) I would choose the 3) Fun-fact Hook: Because if a film has to go through a lot of CGI work and pre-production or post-production then it is best if the director takes as much time as possible it would win best picture of the year time means money and as long as it takes the better no rushing at all when it comes to making films.

2) I would also choose the stylistic fact: Where if a movie is an action comedy or family entertainer I would take my time on my film because of how the conflict and drama should be executed. However, each frame and scene should be presented organically.

3) Stat Hook: If a film took 12 years to make that is very insane but James Cameron did it I know a director named S. S. Rajamouli who directed Bahubali 1 & 2 and RRR a song called Nattu Nattu won two Academy Awards for best Indian Song and the director only spent 4 years on making the film. I would only spend a few years making films because of how perfect it should turn out.

They stated “if you get Louisa wrong, forget it, because no one’s going to identify with her." Overall they settled for Emilia Clark.

Question

3.

Have you ever wondered where a character in a movie gets their wardrobe? In the movie Me before You, the wardrobe designer is said to have found the costumes from thrift stores, shops and chain stores such as Matalan, Primark, and TJ Maxx.

Ironically, Coolidge almost said no to the role of a vain yet lovable protagonist.

2) Statistic Hook:

According to The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, 10 to 15 percent of women and 20 to 25 of men cheat on their spouses. The characters in White Lotus are not immune to this fact as they explore the sexual and romantic politics on vacation.

3) Universal Hook:

Despite socioeconomic class, no human is immune to the farcical aspects of life. "Elemental," directed by Peter Sohn, draws on this significant demographic fact, showing the dynamic and complex lives of immigrant families as the four elements—fire, water, air, and earth—move through a varied cityscape in a fresh approach.

2 Fun

If kids were born in the year 2000s they probably known cool game. And one of the game that all kids like to play is fire boy and water girl. Well after years later on, this type of game has transfered into movie. Elemental is a movie that talk about love story of Ember, fire girl and Wade, water boy and other obstacle that Ember has to overcome.

3 Fun

How fitting that Peter Sohn dedicated eight years to creating a movie, reflecting a childhood wish that their favorite online co-op computer games could come to life on screen.

1) Stylistic Hook:

In a world of high-budget, low artistic credibility music videos, extravagance is the norm and simplicity proves exceptionally rare. However, Radiohead stands out, as Thom Yorke merely walks from room to room in the "Daydreaming" video, directed by the critically lauded Paul Thomas Anderson, who creates a uniquely devastating palette of minimal and liminal shots.

2) Stat Hook (Hybrid):

With nearly 70 million views, Radiohead's "Daydreaming" video seems far from obscure. However, the 1 billion views on their "Creep" video dwarves the 2016 opus. This disparity begs the question: What makes "Daydreaming" inaccessible and "Creep" accessible? Immersing oneself in the palpable emptiness of "Daydreaming" answers this question; the video prioritizes devastation over accessibility, artistic ambitions over commercial sensibilities.

3) Fun-fact Hook:

Did you know Paul Thomas Anderson directed There Will Be Blood, one of the most critically acclaimed movies of the 21st century, as well as the "Daydreaming" music video? Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood, their lead guitarist, also soundtracked the film, so the mutual respect runs both ways

1) fun fact hook:

Did you know that the main character's name in The Hate U Give is inspired by Tupac Shakur's love for Van Gogh's Starry night. Originally it was supposed to be his daughters name but since he died before having kids Angie Thomas decided to name the main character Starr. Inspired by the rapper this was her way for showing her respect.

2). Anecdote hook:

Growing up black in a world where racism is still heavily present, is a rocky and often scary path. Seeing people like me be killed way more often than not because of the color of their skin is core shaking. It's tough voicing how it makes me feel. When I first watched The Hate U Give directed by George Tillman Jr I cried. This movie impacted me in a way no movie has. I felt that this movie could voice feelings in a way I could have not.

3). Universal hook:

Acts of police brutality have become a common trend in the past few years. Arguments and debates are continuous on what to do in response to these acts of violence. George Tillman's adaptation of Angie Thomas's The Hate U Give beautifully follows a young girl's journey of her discovering her voice in response to witnessing an act of police brutality. In fact this movie received critical acclaim. It holds a 97% on on Rotten Tomatoes!

1) When it comes to depression it isn't always visible and its not something people like to talk about. Yoshitoki Ōima created a manga called A Silent Voice she was 18 when she started working she wanted to create this because she herself suffered from depression as a kid and wanted to bring light to this topic and show that it can hide within people who we would least expect it from. She has sold more than 2.5 Million copies just from Japan and in 2017 a film company Kyoto Animation adapted the manga into an animated film and won the Japanese Movie Critics Award for Best Animated Feature Film. This just goes to show how great not only the art or animation is but also the story can reside within a person.

2) A Silent voice was originally a manga and soon enough it was created into a movie. The film depicts how mental health issues like anxiety and depression can affect people, and how past issues can lead to who the characters are in the present. Some say the film is an example of regret and how people can learn to overcome issues like anxiety, depression, and self-hatred.

3) Did you know that many people believed that A Silent Voice was based on a true story and the ending was only altered for it to have a happy ending. This is not true however while this may not be true the feelings and emotions are based on the author Yoshitoki Ōima she wanted to write this be she herself struggled with depression as a kid she wanted to let this topic shine and share this story to reach to others and show how its possible to overcome it.

However Marry Harron's American Psycho film had a $7 million budget and made $34.3 million at the box office, which is almost 5 times what it cost to make! This shows how deep and thought out the plot of the film is as it has a better profit ratio than some movies with 8 figure budgets.

It contains lots of drugs, sex, and explicit images which brings the audience in, making us feel as if we are living in there with these characters.

1) Stat Hook:

Taylor Sheridan was told by Shoshone tribal officials that there were 12 unsolved killings of young women on the reservation while filming Wind River. According to statistics, 1,500 American Indian and Alaska Native missing persons have been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) nationwide, and 2,700 murder and nonnegligent homicide cases have been reported to the UCR Program. BIA estimates 4,200 unsolved missing and murdered cases. These numbers merely estimate tribal lack of resources. Taylor Sheridan wanted to raise awareness and develop a movie that entertained and caught viewers' attention on the problem.

2) Fun-fact Hook:

The seventh-largest and poorest Indian reservation is Wind River Indian Reservation. The breathtaking and brutal scenery during the setting shots is simply stunning. To highlight how the people who live on Indian reservations not only survive but thrive in these environments, Sheridan concentrates on these areas.

Hook 1 Universal: Every girl has got to go through it, every man has to go through it. Love is inevitable for everyone in any form. I believe we can relate to Scott in different scenes throughout Scott Pilgrim vs The World with his goal to achieve love and obtain a genuine connection with someone he is so fond of. He presents the progression of all the stages of how to “get a girl”. Scott’s way of looking completely different being that he is in a special video game like world.

Hook 2 Stylistic: In this advanced world of technology growing and improving every single day, the action comedy, Scott Pilgrim vs The World was released in 2010 and can be thought to be ahead of its time when it comes to the filmmaking. Little do we see films of reality meshed with video like tendencies, which can lock a viewer in with the amazing animations due to the speech/actions bubbles and giving people video like super powers.

Hook 3 Fun fact: In this action comedy film, Scott Pilgrim vs The World, these actors/actresses go above and beyond by learning to play some instruments as their role of band members. They had to learn and adapt quickly as the production of the movie began before the film was finished. Despite the film being a flop in the box office not meeting the films budget goal, the movie collected a fan base throughout the nation.

Anecdote

I don't cry. Okay, perhaps that's an over-exaggeration. I do cry, but never over a piece of media. I never cried when George O'Malley died in Grey's Anatomy, or when the dog in Akita waited for his late owner to come back for months on end. But, when I first saw Paris Paloma's music video for "Labour" on my best friend's couch, I felt a tear fall down my cheek. This wasn't something that made me sad, no. I felt rage. Rage for not just one moment, but a cumulation of them.

Fun fact

Did you know that Paris Paloma, the singer-songwriter for the newest feminine rage anthem wanted to become an author!

Universal

Everyone's had that one relationship that made them put too much of themselves on the line, and received too little. Paris Paloma's music video for "Labour", does an excellent job in portraying this, with minimal props and facial expressions.
