Dictatorship

In the begging Putin was voted into becoming president. Ever since then he's been voted back in every year. Its very strange how Putin keeps getting re- elected when people state, "How Vladimir Putin became the worlds favorite dictator", stated from the Washington post. Putin has been president for 18 years. He can be a very manipulative person. He likes things his way and doesn't like when things get out of hand. Like a dictator, he makes people think what hes doing is okay. He has a lot of power and likes to use it. Some people even relate him to Kim Jong-un, another one of the worlds biggest dictators.

The rights of Russia

the rights in Russia drastically changed ones Putin became president. Putin believes that women deserve little to no rights. One of the laws that changed for the worse is, saying that if you batter (beat) your wife or family member you no longer go to jail, if you get caught you only get a fined 5-30,000 dollars, but most of the time the women pay the fines or they get treats from other men in the family. Also in Russia they control your internet and social medias, they make sure to don't see sights they don't think you need to see.

How Putin was elected

In Russia the way a president gets elected is they have 2 round system every six years. Which means that if no candidate wins the first time with many votes they then have a second election. But the two people who ended with the most votes are the last people left to be elected. Even though Putin keeps getting elected, people think its all a scam, some believe people are being threatened if they don't vote for him. From an article from "Newsweek" they state that if "anyone is seen as enough of a threat to Putin's hegemony is shut out". They also make sure when you go onto the internet that all you see is Putin's elections and no other runners.

What laws the citizens have to follow

According to Russia the citizens have freedom of assembly, have the right to gather, having no weapons, and are allowed to hold meetings. Another rule in Russia that is a big deal is being homosexual. They don't allow it and they don't think its right. People on the streets who are seen with another women or man get beat. Say homosexual people wanted to adopt a child, they wouldn't be allowed to do that. They band any legislation from Russian kids being adopted by any parents who live where marriage equality is the law. This only started to get bigger once Putin became president. Another would be that citizens have the lack of there own religion. If they get caught practicing a different religion they could get a fine or even go to jail.

Russia compared to Iran

Russia's government is run by a dictatorship. Iran's government is run by a theocracy. A theocracy government is very different from a dictatorship. Theocracy government is a government ruled by god. all of there laws come from there religion. they are very strict on how they believe things should go. If anyone goes against there religion they have consequences A dictatorship goes by what the leader (president) thinks is right. Iran isn't the only country who also lives by theocracy. Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, are very strong on theocracy as well.
