My School-From-Home Workbook! (Day 39 - Tuesday, June 2nd, 2020) by Mark Giraldi

I will be sending a new one of these each school morning to your parent's e-mail! It'll contain all of our schoolwork for the day. Any assignment submissions can be turned in through our class site (Edmodo). You should aim for one hour of schoolwork each school day! Don't forget about Ms. Garbett's weekly French work (posted on her Brightspace site), which you can access through your BYOD page (https://byod.peelschools.org/), and Mr. Bieman's Music page, which you can access through Google Classrooms (https://classroom.google.com/).

'Main Idea' Read and Review!

This week we're going to be reviewing key Language terms used to break down/analyze narratives (whether in written stories or film)! Our first one is 'Main Idea', which is sometimes also called the 'Author's Message', 'Theme/Moral of the Story'!

Below there's an example we made earlier this year on a short story called 'The Present'. If you don't remember it (or the 'Must Sees' of a Main Idea), check it out again! You can also re-watch the story from the Padlet link.

After reviewing what a 'Main Idea' needs, watch the following short story below (called 'Bridge').

MAIN IDEA REFLECTION ASSIGNMENT
What is the Main Idea of this story? In a response (either voice recorded, written by hand with a picture/scan taken, or typed up using your choice of a variety of online programs), list the Main Idea and four supporting details (from personal experience and the story itself)! This is in full sentence form, meaning no jot notes! I've attached a graphic organizer below to help you (if you want to write it out by hand, or type up your work in Microsoft Word/Google Docs)!

Please turn in your work in our Language Arts section on Edmodo!
