I “stole” this idea from another teacher during Literacy night. In my class, the students try to beat the clock during our Heggerty time. If the timer goes off, before we finish, I win. If we finish before the timer goes off, students win and get a point. They all have to participate for it to count too. If they are not participating and they beat the clock, they don’t get the point. The points add up for class parties.
This has helped my students really listen and participate more during our Heggerty time. It has also helped us stay on our daily schedule.

I have never worked so much on my classroom environment! I think about ways that my classroom can be more student centered, and I love creating the environment for my students to learn and play in. I am excited with what new curriculum and leach literacy is doing for my students!

Implementing “all the things” Leach Literacy has recommended. I have always worked hard to make my room look nice and be functional, but this has really made me work hard on using student work, collaborative-made anchor charts and other student generated resources strategically placed around the room for learning. Less teacher store and more student ownership!

I am using my data from CFA and assessments immediately in my own classroom. This is helping me establish what teaching methods and practices are the most effective for my students. As new information comes, it allows me to meet with students and use a more in depth intervention. It is also great for our Tier 3 intervention with other teachers!
