Six Word Memoirs

Credit for this idea goes to Jennifer Lane! Students used this Padlet to summarize their week in 6 words for extra credit. Most also included images and additional descriptions. It was a great way to connect in an asynchronous class.

Live Conference Workspace

They started in this Padlet then linked to one of three others to share their ideas. I borrowed this "use a Padlet to link to other Padlets" idea from CG colleague Alisa Beyer.

Psychology Songs

This Padlet was used to highlight a psychology-related weekly song in my asynchronous class and to ask students for their song suggestions. It didn't really work but I liked the idea!

This song one worked better then (when I remembered) I played one at the start of class.

I mostly use the Like (heart) reaction, but Padlet offers Vote (up/down), Stars (out of 5), and Grade (out of 100) as other options. I could see Grade working for a peer review and Vote for decision-making.

You can download in different ways, as an image, CSV, or PDF file. PDF creates a newsletter-like version, although the formatting can be off (example).

Pro Tip: Privacy

Most of my Padlets are set to "Secret" which means you need the link to access them. Be warned though that the link is shareable by anyone who has it. A few of my Padlets are Public. If you want to lock it down, you can restrict it to only those you have invited by email or you can require a password. No matter the privacy, no one needs an account to post.

Your Life Experience

I was inspired by the MCLI spring 2024 presentation to try to help students connect their life experience to our class. On day one, I asked them to think through how they thought their school, work, and personal experience might connect to our class. My goal was to integrate this more throughout the course, although all I really did was ask them each week to write about a connection without much feedback on my part. This concept could definitely be strengthened!
