Before the Japanese Occupation there was no Japanese language taught in school. All races have to study their subjects in their own languages. During Japanese Occupation, Japanese language is taught in schools in Singapore. As a result, Source 1 tells me that "there is indian and malay student trying to write Japanese language as there is a change in the education system". Thus, it shows that the teenagers were forced to switch their own language to japanese.
Source 2 tells me that "the japanese have tried to influence the people in singapore as in by taking over locals newspaper and show a daily column of numbers in japanese language''.
Source 2 also supports the point as it shows " libaries were stocked up on books about Japan and its culture". With only books with Japanese language, the people in singapore, especially those who often went to the library, read and borrow books, were forced to read japanese books. Thus, it shows that the people who like to read books have to read the japanese books.
Source 3 tells me that "A school's yearbook is shown about teenagers learning about Japanese art". Source 3 also supports the point as it shows the picture inside the yearbook, teenager students learn how to scrape on the drawing board. Because of the Japanese Occupation, the teenager students have to learn the japanese culture.
Source 4 tells me that "the teachers tell the teenagers to write a dairy or a reflection about what they did for the day".
Source 4 also supports the point that the teachers wanted the teenagers to have discpline. The teachers have to teach the teenagers discpline and by that, they needed to buy a dairy to reflect on what they did.
Source 5 tells me that " the Japanese tried to show their good inside them and not from the people's perspective of the dark to the Japanese".
Source 5 also supports the point that the teachers tried to encourage the students to buy the Japanese comics to read (highlighted with the kindness of japanese) through comics tto show them(the Japanese) that they are not bad guys.
