I have just started the novel below. 'Wonder' is told from the perspective of 10 year old Auggie. Auggie has a medical condition, which has forced him to have many surgeries. As a result of this, Auggie has been homeschooled by his mother. However, his mother believing that he needs to experience the real world enrols him to a new school. It is interesting to have the novel told from Auggie's point of view, as you are able to see how others in society treat him, as a result of his condition. I think Palacio is trying to get the reader to consider their reactions to individuals in society and to consider the beauty of diversity.

by Toby Gillatt

Tom Gates is a young school boy. He is lucky because he lives next door to his best friend called Derek. Also, he is in a band with Derek and his other friend (Norman). Being quite cheeky, he is under the watchful eye of his classroom teacher. Mr. Fullerman - his teacher - gets angry when Tom draws. However, he can not stop as it is his passion. i would recommend this book to 8-12 year olds but of course anyone can read it. Liz Pichon is the author and is very good at drawing like Tom Gates.

By Jasmine Kajal
I read this book and found it very interesting and it made me want to read more. Kid Normal is about a boy called Murph Cooper who"s mum and and brother (as a family) always move house. His mum wants to put Murph in a good school, but can't find any. One day Murph and his mum are walking and see the headmaster of a school locking the gates. When his mum asked the headteacher if her son could join the school, he was acting very quiet. Why? Well his school was for kids with super powers. Murph went for his first day at school not knowing that it's a school for superpowers has to go to the front of class and show them what he has got. Meanwhile, there is a villain called Nektar and he wants to take over the world and kill the superheroes. Murph and his friends save the day when Nektar and his assistants try and kill them. I would recommend this book for 9-15 year olds to read. The authors are Greg James and Chris Smith. The illustrator is Erica Salcedo. I think the author is trying to get across the fact that you can save the day without anything special.

By Eimear McManus
War horse is an amazing book. Michael Morpurgo is very clever and tells the story from the perspective of the horse and it makes the reader feel as though they are really there. It is an unforgettable book however, it is very emotional so I would recommend it for ages 9+. It has persuasive anti-war messages and it shows how war is full of loss whilst telling a story of everlasting loyalty. It’s about a horse’s experience in WW1. After being sold to the army, Joey (the horse) is thrust into the midst of the war on the western front. He witnesses the horror of the front line but his courage touches the soldiers around him. This moving book is not only for horse lovers but anyone who loves a great story that keeps you wanting to carry on reading.

Review by Aimee Gallagher
The book is amazing because it is telling you how you can go from just watching the TV to become someone famous. The book was interesting because it tells all different parts of her life with comedy and who inspires her. There is some images from when she was little and pictures from her holidays. The first few chapters are about how people can be so horrible and also there are some key images from her life like when she graduated. The book should be read by children aged 12 and over because some of the book swears in it.I think Scarlett is trying to tell the readers through the book that if you believe you can achieve anything like she did as she dreamt of being on "I`m A celebrity Get Me Out Of Here" and she went on it. This is probably the best life story book i have ever read and i keep reading it and reading it.

But he won’t let that stop him and his grandpa from having fun together again....
Jack visits his grandpa a few days later and together they plan a great escape for grandpa.
I would recommend this book for children (boys and girls) between 8-12 years old but of course anyone can read the book.

By Joel Naughton
I have not finished this book yet but for how much I have read it is an amazing book and I can't wait to finish it. The book is based on a small magical creature called Bilbo Baggins. In the land of middle earth hobbits are well known for being burglars. But that was in the past so they are now known as peaceful creatures that live under a hill quite happy. But one day an old wizard called Gandalf puts a magical mark on his door and Bilbo's peaceful life will be erupted by a magical, dangerous and life changing adventure/quest. I would suggest this book for reader from 10-14. This is a very good book and is part of a series. I can't way to finish it and I hope you read it to.

By william jenkinson
It talks about a lad from Sheffield who came from a small house near Hillsborough stadium, he thought his dream club Sheffield wednesday would make him a striker like his icon David Hirst. He disliked school, which led him on to get extremely bad gcses with his best being in maths, this was one of his preferred subjects due to his teacher. As he was growing up he stuck out from the other kids, he was a black mark on white sheets. He was mischievous and was blamed for vandalism on his previous school. His path for his career was torn to bits after his heart brake with Wednesday who released him due to his size. He suddenly had nothing he went from job to job but eventually worked at Sheffield steel works for several years. He was one to go out drinking with many of his mates and what was firstly just a few pints ended with it being a full session. He still loved playing football despite his heart brake and scored plenty of goals. He was known to police for his socalled criminal offences, he had a deaf friend who was getting the mick taken out of him so basically fought them and ended up having the tag. He had plenty other encounters with the coppers for example when he was glassed. He then moved up tiers in football and eventually had an agent. He was eventually picked up by Leicester City who at the time were a league 1 side. He eventually fitted in even though he could go out the night before and get drunk but played at his best in the 4 hour sleep he would get. He went on to break a record for the most goals scored in consecutive games, then that season they won the Premier league. I like this story because it gives me hope on for fulling my dream which was like his. His story line seems to be like mine, both playing for an academy and disliking school, but as it says you just get what your given. I also like it because i can relate to this in many ways

After having her transplant she visits counselling sessions every week and meets a boy. People always tell her how lucky she is but she finds it hard to accept it.

By William Mellor
I have been reading the Alex Rider series since half term and this was the book that I have ended up reading during the Christmas holidays. I have been hooked to the book through the holidays and have since finished the book. Eagle Strike is a fast paced that will still leave you full of suspense right up until the book finishes. The book starts when Alex is in the middle of his holiday in a french town of Saint-Pierre on the Mediterranean coast. Alex spots one of his archenemies yachts and goes to investigate he slips his way through his henchmen. Once inside he goes down to the lower where he finds his archenemy.
After being captured, he is taken to the bull fight and he is trapped inside the ring with a bull and miraculously escapes. Furiously, running to get back to the villa before his eyes it explodes with his friends dad inside ( he went on holiday with his friend because his parents were dead) who was a journalist. Could these events be linked? and will his friends dad survive? I know do you what to, you will have to read the book to find out. I would recommend this book for people aged 11-14 years because it would make the reader feel the most empathy.

By Charlie Bolger
Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a book about a boy called Greg Heffley that always is involved with some sort of drama. Greg lives with his Mum,Dad and his 2 brothers Rodrick and Manny. In ''The Getaway'' the Heffley family spend christmas on holiday in Spain. The place they are staying at is described as a paradise, but when they get there they soon find out it's not like it's described. The book follows them trying to make there holiday fun. But just like any other Diary of a Wimpy Kid book, they fail. They are kicked out a day early and have to stay at the airport hotel. The trip had failed. Until... They sneek back into the resort and manage to end the trip on a high. I thought the book had many hilarious moments and would appeal to children from the age of 7-1

Real life in the UK - Reflections of an immigrant doctor: by Sylvester and Helen Mujakperuo

by Michelle Mujakperuo
I think this is a great novel because the stories inside it are really engaging and I totally agree with the authors’ viewpoints. Lara is a young medical doctor, who was born and grew up in Nigeria, who finally has her dream of travelling into the UK fulfilled. At the start, she felt it was a better country than her own, and expected it to be a wonderful, rich luxurious place – “a land flowing with milk and honey” (as described in the book). However, life in the UK isn’t TOTALLY what she imagined it to be. During this book she encounters issues she had never thought she would be facing in the UK – academics, unemployment, finances and not to mention racial discrimination. She’s not just a regular human being doctor coming to work in the UK, no. She’s an “immigrant” doctor, meaning she is different and therefore life in the UK really ISN’T all that she dreamt it would be after all. This makes a PERFECT handbook for people like her - “immigrants” – who are coming into or have just arrived in the UK. It may not seem as such at the start, but this book is actually a really good read.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Real-Life-UK-Reflections-Immigrant/dp/978935634X

~Written by Caitlin Vaughan

The book that I have recently read was called The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. It's target audience is primarily teenagers, but I believe that due to the action packed content and intriguing story line , it is suitable for anyone of this age and above. The adventure is set in a dystopian universe that consists of 12 poverty stricken district that are brutally controlled by the filthy rich Capital
Our central character is a 16 year old girl named Katniss Everdean, who is braught to everyone's attention when she volunteers to take her younger sisters place in the notorious annual Hunger Games.
The Hunger Games is an annual event that the capital stages in order to remind the districts of the Capitals eternal and ultimate power. This consists of one boy an one girl from each district to be unwillingly chosen to compost against each other in a battle to the death.
Only one will survive.
Katniss and her fellow 'tribute' ,Peeta, rebel against this tradition wich leads them down the road to a dangerous and destructive journey.
What I found most interesting about this story, in spite of the explosive story line , Katniss displays very human emotions. These are emotions that almost, everyone can identify and relate to, such as; her protective feelings for her younger sister-prim- ,and also her affection feelings towards Peeta, but also she felt conflicted and hatred which was aimed at President Snow and President Coin. All these elements made the book very interesting for me to read.
I would absolutely and most definitely recommend this book to anyone. I really hope that you read these incredible books and enjoy them as much as I have

The book I have read is The Sign of Four, one of the Sherlock Holmes book series by Arthur Conan Doyle. This is about when a young woman has received several large pearls (one a year for the past six years) and now she has recieved a letter saying she is wronged. When she goes to seek justice with her two companions (Sherlock and Watson) they find out that there people who stalk London’s fog consumed streets; a one legged man with revenge on his mind and another, who places no value on human life. If you really like thrillers I would recommend that you read this book, but if you don’t like complicated reads then don’t read it but I really like it by Finn O’Connor

I read the book Billionaire Boy by David Walliams. This book is about the richest boy in the country who has everything he could possibly want except for friends. Because he doesn't have any friends this leaves him sad and lonely, so he leaves his wealthy children's school to go to a local comprehensive. There he meets another 12 year old boy named Bob and they become best friends. But a new girl arrives at the school and she soon becomes friends with Joe, the richest boy in the country. But it soon comes out that Joe's dad paid the girl to be Joe's friend. I liked this book because it was funny and it helps you figure out who your real friends are. I would recommend this book to people who are age 10 - 12 years because it's not a complicated book by Lucy Mcgann.

There is a load of anecdotes in the series that are relatable to other people around his age. The book I read most recently "the getaway" is the newest book in the series and is about the struggles of going to a holiday resort with his parents and his brothers. What makes the series interesting is how random it is and the fact that you have no idea what is going to happen in any book. So in conclusion I think it is a really good book series and is so good I read one of the books in my spare time. By Ben Kotas.

This book is based around a girl called Sophie and a giant knowned at The BFG. Roald Dahl (the author) wrote this book based on real life as his granddaughter (Sophie) called him a ‘Big Friendly Giant’ which gave him an idea of what his next book was going to be about. The book is about Sophie being captured by The BFG and taken to an imagined land where she discovers other giants are eating children. Their mission is to stop them from doing this by informing the Queen. I enjoyed this book as it was written as if the writer was talking to the reader and wasn’t too formal. Dahl used a variety of punctualyion and interesting vocabulary to engage the reader such as using capital letters to emphasize the text. I would recommend this book to children as the storyline of the book is childlike and it is immature to some people.
-Mckayla Sandford

Jason has a situation. He doesn’t remember anything before waking up on a school bus surrounded by kids and he has no idea who they are and he is also holding hands with a random girl and apparently she is a girl named Piper and she is his girlfriend. There is also his best friend who is a kid named Leo, and they’re all students at some sort of Wilderness School which is actually just a boarding school for “troubled kids.” What he did to end up here, Jason has no idea whatsoever but he does a feeling that everything isn't as it seems. It is a great book and I would recommend it however I would recommend reading the Percy Jackson book series first.

This is the sequel to The Whizz Pop Chocolate Shop. Oz, Lily and Cayden are on a mission to foil Alba's plan. Her plan is to stop the great fire of London to continue the plague.Saunders adds some humour by adding two pets- a cat and a rat- whose names are Demerara and Spike. Whilst reading this book I found it intriguing how there's some spy service that deals with magic. I would recommend it to someone who wants to develop in reading- Nazia Seidu-Kpebu

I loved the story. If I were to rate it I would rate it five stars so far because it is funny and at the same time very interesting. I like how she loves shopping and can’t stop spending money. It’s hilarious! I like the parts where people get mad at her and I love the moral of the story! I also like the story because it kind of relates to myself even though I struggle to admit it. The story is suitable for 10+ I think which makes it perfect for me to read. What a great book! Even though it isn’t like a story it is more of a diary/ story. I am looking forward to reading the next chapters as I have only read chapters 1-7. Thank you for reading my review!

I have chosen to review an acid attack story which was in a magazine.

Two men in London were carrying buckets of acid when they came across a woman that they chose was their victim. Sadly, the acid hit her in face and she had critical burns on her face and she became blind because of this outrageous act. Nobody deserves this and soon after she was on Jeremy Kyle to create awareness of what could happen,

This was in a magazine to create awareness too. So this is what I am going to do! Be careful everywhere and especially in London. This caused a woman to be blind which nobody deserves no matter what they have done

These books are about a teenager called Alex Rider, and his parents and uncle were spies. But when they die, MI6 have only one choice: recruit Alex. This puts him in all sorts of dangerous situations and death-defying missions. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes action and fighting and that sort of thing. And the best thing is, you have no idea what might happen next. I would recommend to kids anywhere from the age of 10 to 15.
