We are luckily not held down by standards, which has allowed us to be flexible and creative in curriculum development. However, we have set power goals that take priority (most recently SEL and DEI goals). Covid prioritized technology goals, resources, and overall collaboration for tech resources. I think the positive aspects of these goals will continue, but will not be at the forefront of our overall goals.

The state tests generally say "Major, Minor, Additional Clusters of Standards" for math. We've always used those (blindly) to identify the "essential standards." What's hard is that work then often leaves behind ideas such as stats/probability which is often where clearer connections can be made between Math and the world around students.

During the 19-20 school year, a large team of teachers throughout the district BEGAN to identify the power standards and develop a curriculum for all grades k-12 in ELA and math. I was a part of that group for ELA.
