Milo was on the road to Dictionopolis, and stopped off at Expectations and met the Whether Man. The Whether Man confused Milo. After Milo left he was on his way to Dictionopolis. His mind wandered off. At the fork in the road, Milo took a right instead of a left. He ended up in the Doldrums. There he met the Lethargians. They explained the rules to him and they were extremely lazy. The Watchdog arrived. He makes sure that no one wastes time. The Watchdog tells MIlo how to make the car go -- by thinking! The Watchdog jumped in the car, because he likes car rides.

The Watchdog told his story of how he got his name. They entered the gate of Dictionopolis. The Guardsman gave him an excuse to enter. They then met the Cabinet members. Their names were examples of aliteration and they were also synonyms.
