She's introduced as mysterious and different, but this passage highlights her wit and dedication. In a country where women must cover up outside, and are expected to be living with their parents well into adulthood it's shocking for Nadia to drop the f-word in the middle of her sentence. It shows how she's become unafraid without becoming unreasonable. She's found a way to protect her physical self while also preserving her identity. Saeeds father (nor saeed) is afforded the comfort of publicity crying about the loss of Saeeds mother. At a time like this Saeeds father definitely could not risk being seen as weak of feminine so he felt pain alone, thus barring his burden alone.
