also anglicized as Sesostris 1, senwosret1 was the second pharaoh of the Twelfth Dynasty of Egypt. He ruled from 1971 BC to 1926 BC (1920 BC to 1875 BC), and was one of the most powerful kings of this Dynasty. Senusret constructed an alabaster kiosk for the cult statue of Amun at Karnak, known as the White Chapel. Despite its diminutive size, it is distinguished by the artistry of its decoration. He refurbished the temple of RE at Heliopolis establishing two huge granite obelisks (one of which still stands) for the celebration of his Sed festival. He rebuilt the temple of Osiris khentiamentiu at Abydos and the celebration of his resurrection of reached new heights as his officials placed numerous stele along the route of the annual procession. His reign was generally characterised by great wealth and prosperity. He sent numerous expeditions to Wadi Hammamat, Sinai, Hatnub and Wadi el-Hudi and established trading links with Syrian cities to ensure that Egypt had access to a wide array of raw materials, gems and luxuries. The artistic achievements of his reign are exemplified by the exquisite jewellery recovered from the tombs of the royal ladies at Dhshur and Lahun. However, even during such a time of peace and plenty there are references to famine and hardship from sources such as the "Heqanakht papyri" and in tomb inscriptions at Beni Hassan

Akhenaten was an Egyptian pharaoh who ruled during the Eighteenth Dynasty of the New Kingdom period of Ancient Egypt. He is famous for changing the traditional religion of Egypt from the worship of many gods to the worship of a single god named Aten.Akhenaten was born in Egypt around 1380 BC.meaning "living spirit of Aten" - known before the fifth year of his reign as Amenhotep IV (sometimes given its Greek form, Amenophis IV, and meaning Amun is Satisfied), was a Pharaoh of the Eighteenth dynasty of Egypt who ruled for 17 years and died perhaps in 1336 BC or 1334 BC.During his reign, several buildings were constructed as a mark of respect to the disc of the sun god 'Aten'. During his reign, Akhenaten tried his best to establish Aten as the supreme god of Egypt. He also diverted the funds meant for other gods and cults towards the service of the sun god.

During his reign as pharaoh, Ramses II led the Egyptian army against several enemies including the Hittites, Syrians, Libyans, and Nubians. He expanded the Egyptian empire and secured its borders against attackers. Perhaps the most famous battle during Ramses' rule was the Battle of Kadesh. No pharaoh ever surpassed the building achievements of Ramses II. Among the most famous of his constructions are his temple at Abydos, his funerary temple, known as the Ramesseum, at Thebes, and the great rockcut temple at Abu Simbel in Nubia. The vast tomb complex known as the Ramesseum at Thebes, the temples at Abu Simbel, the hall at Karnak, the complex at Abydos and literally hundreds of other buildings, monuments, temples were all constructed by Ramesses.List of children of Ramesses II. The Ancient Egyptian Pharaoh Ramesses II had a large number of children: between 48 and 50 sons, and 40 to 53 daughters–whom he had depicted on several monuments. Ramesses apparently made no distinctions between the offspring of his first two principal wives, Nefertari and Isetnofret.

Cleopatra is one of the best-known women in history, famed for her supposed beauty and intellect, and her love affairs with Julius Caesar and Mark Antony. She became queen of Egypt following the death of her father, Ptolemy XII, in 51 BC, and is often portrayed by Hollywood as a glamourous femme fatale. It was a big accomplishment to be a female ruler in that time. ...Overall, Cleopatra was a very strong ruler, and most pharaohs around that time were men. ...* Cleopatra wasn't Egyptian! ...* She had a picture of herself on the coins of that time. When Cleopatra and Ptolemy XIII inherited the throne, Cleopatra assumed power.Ptolemy died in 51 B.C. The throne now belonged to Cleopatra and her brother Ptolemy XII. It was the custom in those days for the oldest child to inherit the throne. Egypt didn't pass over female children, as did later European and Asian countries, and so Cleopatra was thought of as pharaoh. When her father Ptolemy XII died in 51 BC, Cleopatra became co-regent with her 10-year-old brother Ptolemy XIII. They were married, in keeping with Egyptian tradition. ... Caesar followed and he and Cleopatra became lovers. Cleopatra, who had been exiled by her brother, was reinstalled as queen with Roman military support.

Nefertiti and the pharaoh took an active role in establishing the Aten cult, a religious mythology which defined Aten, the sun, as the most important god and the only one worthy of worship in Egypt's polytheistic canon. ... In several reliefs she is shown wearing the crown of a pharaoh or smiting her enemies in battle. The missing eye led to speculation that Nefertiti may have suffered from an ophthalmic infection, and actually lost her left eye, though the presence of an iris in other statues of her contradicted this possibility. ... Hawass suggested that Thutmose had created the left eye, but it was later destroyed.Nefertiti, whose name means "a beautiful woman has come," was the queen of Egypt and wife of Pharaoh Akhenaten during the 14th century B.C. She and her husband established the cult of Aten, the sun god, and promoted Egyptian artwork that was radically different from its predecessors.
