2. For some time now, the husband has been an inveterate alcoholic and one day, completely intoxicated, he arrives at his house and starts against the feline. This being attacked bites him, action that makes the man angry who takes a knife out of his pocket to deliberately empty an eye to the animal.

From then on, Pluto avoids his master. Although initially he regrets his despicable action as time passes, this feeling of guilt becomes irritation to end up in perversity. Finally in a fit of madness kill the cat drowning him with a rope. That same night a fire is declared in the house forcing the couple to flee from there

3. Already the next morning, and trying to recover some possession from among the ashes, everyone observes as printed on one of the walls that has remained standing appears the silhouette of a cat with a rope around his neck.

This image constantly disturbs the man although little by little he is looking for a logical explanation to such an event. At the same time he begins to lose the feeling of guilt regarding what he did to his pet.

Days later in a tavern he finds a black cat very similar to Pluto, so much so that his measurements are similar and even one eye is missing. However, the only difference is that on his chest he has a large white spot.

Edgar Allan Poe lost his parents, traveling theater actors, when he was barely two years old. Little Edgar was educated by John Allan, a wealthy businessman from Richmond. Poe's relationships with his adoptive father were traumatic; also the early death of his mother would become one of his recurrent obsessions. From 1815 to 1820 he lived with John Allan and his wife in the United Kingdom, where he began his education.

After returning to the United States, Edgar Allan Poe continued studying in private schools and attended the University of Virginia, but in 1827 his love of gambling and drinking led to his expulsion. He left shortly after the position of employee who had assigned his adoptive father, and traveled to Boston, where he published anonymously his first book, Tamerlane and other poems (Tamerlane and Other Poems, 1827).

He enlisted then in the army, in which he remained two years. In 1829 he published his second book of poems, Al Aaraaf, and obtained, under the influence of his adoptive father, a position at the Military Academy of West Point, which after a few months was expelled for negligence in the performance of duty.

In 1832, and after the publication of his third book, Poems (Poems by Edgar Allan Poe, 1831), he moved to Baltimore, where he married his young cousin Virginia Clemm, who was then fourteen years old. By this time he entered as editor in the newspaper Southern Baltimore Messenger, in which they appeared diverse narrations and his poems, and that under his direction it would become the most important newspaper of the south of the country. Later he collaborated in several magazines in Philadelphia and New York, city in which he had settled with his wife in 1837.
