Stephanie Escobar: The high schoolers in the video were more aware of the situations they were in so shelter and food were big priorities for them. I work in an elementary school therefore the priorities and perspectives will be different because they are more sheltered and not aware. For example they know they need food and shelter but technology such as TV, games, etc. As a school district it's important to address and be aware of those students and provide the accurate supports for them.

I didn't have education listed in my top priorities, so that surprised me (in a good way) that they saw the value in getting that education to make their lives better. 3. As a district we need to make sure we're addressing the basic needs, but also recognize that in spite of challenges with housing, these students are very capable and deserve a fair chance at their best future, including college.
