Ever since I was a kid, I've had a fondness for animals and even preferred their company to those of people. It was my dream when I was young to be a veterinarian and to help as many animals as possible. As I've grown older, I still find animals to be a special interest of mine. I've began volunteering at an animal shelter to further my knowledge on aiding animals, as well as giving them the best life possible. After volunteering, I've even began to consider changing majors to become a veterinarian technician. In loving animals, it taught me more about patience, empathy, and more positive social skills.

Rock Climbing

Starting in 2019 I found a new love in the art of rock climbing. There is a personal relationship formed with nature and the mountains as you attempt to reach the top of a beautiful, sheer, and sometimes sharp, cliffside. You learn a lot about yourself and what you're capable of when you try this sport. Not only are you creating relationships with the community of climbers, but also within yourself. I have never felt more accepted or encouraged as I do with this sport. It teaches you about achieving personal goals and overcoming or managing fear, whether on the rock or in everyday life.

Music Enthusiast

Music is something that has gotten me through some of my best and worst days. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't have Spotify open with either a classical, metal, or hyper-pop sound coming to my ears. Music has always been able to help me contextualize my thoughts and feelings in a way I struggle to do in person. Music has helped me connect with like-minded people, express my own emotions, and better understand other's cultures and experiences.

Video Games

Video games can be more than a way to pass the time. They are a cultural artifact that can teach you about changes in society, what it means to love, and what it means to be human. They often act as a mirror, reflecting complex social issues and foster empathy and understanding. These, and other issues, can be reflected in one of my favorite games: The Last of Us (Part I & II).

Book Nerd

Books are my escape. My third grade teacher, Ms. Paulson, read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone to our class, and ever since then I have a love for reading and escaping into a world of your own. Since then, I've found solace in authors such as Stephen King, Patrick Rothfuss, and Sarah J. Maas, along with too many books and not enough space for them all. Reading has taught me to think critically, to embrace and learn about other cultures, and even helped shaped my own identity and reality.
