He is genetically modified to be smarter but some people would say he is not human and doesn't qualify for some things such as religion.  He also had grown up on the dirty city streets of Rotterdam where stronger kids would kill others for a piece of food. The sequel to Ender’s Shadow (1999) continues the exploits of Bean, Ender’s strategist and friend, juxtaposing them with the deadly challenges faced by 14-year-old Petra Arkanian, another member of Ender’s team. Now that the war against the buggers is over, the Battle School’s graduates have returned home, and someone is kidnapping them. Could the psychopathic Achilles be behind it? Events in this novel parallel those in the first part of Speaker for the Dead (1986), the immediate sequel to Ender’s Game (1985). Peter Wiggin, Ender’s brother, aspires to become the Hegemon and set the world to rights, and he has sent Ender, with his sister, Valentine, into hiding off planet. The characterizations are first class, and the fast-paced action features one hair-raising episode after another, as Achilles proves to be the brains behind the international turmoil in which China gobbles up India and the rest of Asia while Russia swallows the European nations. The international posturing rings very true, as do Achilles’ power-grabbing machinations, and Bean’s scheming, too, as he reluctantly supports Peter while struggling to bring Achilles down and rescue Petra from Achilles’ deadly clutches. At book ’s end, the hostilities haven’t been resolved, which opens the door for another sequel. Shadow of the Hegemon  is so nicely integrated into the rest of the Ender canon that readers will be completely enthralled and left anxiously awaiting the next installment. However the book review does not get into the witty moods of the characters who are always smart mouthing into the face of danger. this often leaves you laughing on the inside at what the heck these characters are doing with their lives and how they lived this long. Another thing that's really funny is how super duper paranoid these characters are about everything and surprisingly right due to they have five governments run by the antagonist trying to kill them. After you're done reading that you think carefully why the heck are these sixteen year olds and a midget pretending to be a six years old boy with his "grandma" still alive all they have is money a big brain and everybody trying to kill them. This P.O.V. makes it at first seem like none of these plot lines actually involve each other. However slowly but surely the plot lines told by each character has come closer and closer together until they all meet up.  The multiple  P.O.V. also allows for dramatic irony when one you learn from one character but none of the rest know.  Also the P.O.V. surprisingly makes it if one character is at a cliff hanger then you gotta read to figure out what happens but along the way you run into two other cliff hangers from the other characters making an anxious loop hole that keeps you anxious.]]> 2017-10-27 17:52:56 UTC https://padlet.com/kea06028/lz2lgz5lz5f8/wish/201307423 kea06028 https://padlet.com/kea06028/lz2lgz5lz5f8/wish/201307787 The Conflict is very complex in the shadow of the hegemon. So the protagonists are facing of with the antagonist Achilles. With this power they attempt to save people and kill each other and kick them out of their position of power or move to a better position. As they scale up the stakes they also end up tipping the balance of the world to gain more favor to get more power while.
