FOCUS - use examples to develop shared concepts
INVESTIGATE - students go find out and answer questions
ORGANIZE - share, sort, and connect findings together
GENERALIZE - find what key concepts are shared
TRANSFER - test the generalizations with new information
REFLECT - set goals about their inquiry process not content

Start with provocations and student questions and allow the students to investigate them, connect the key and related concepts, and write their own central ideas at the end!
