The first thing the common viewer sees when looking at this photo, is Uncle Sam, a symbol of america. Uncle Sam seems to be sticking American flags on territory that we claimed in the time period of imperialism. What is interesting is that it seems as he is putting no effort into doing so, representing how easy it was for the U.S to take the territory. Another thing that most people miss is how he is holding more flags in his other hand and in his armpit. This is used to represent how the U.S isn't done taking over and has many more ideas about what territory to conquer.

In this image the general picture is spears stuck around a congressman and a person, probably of Filipino nationality, is staring him down. When we look closely at the document in the congressman hand we can see that it says "Approaching the Philippine district". This obviously means that the United states is approaching the Philippines. Another small detail is the sash that the Filipino is wearing. The sash says on it "Representation in Philipines". This brings us to a conclusion that that man is a rebel in the Philipines at the time of imperialism and is only trying to get some sort of say in the taking over of the territory.

A burden is something that sticks with you for a while and might mentally or physically weigh you down or harm you in some way. An example might be, if you had a drinking problem and you did some dumb stuff that might be a burden because it'll prevent you from getting jobs.

He describes the people as ¨sullen¨ and wild people. I don't think he was correct in his description. I think he imperialized the people because he wanted to make it seem like America was right to take over the territory.

3. I would characterize his views as one sided and biased. I do not agree with Kipling's views. I think that there was no justification for Imperialism.
4. The White Mans burden is that they need to cleanse the world of ¨savages¨.

This article pulls you in by using a question. The question "Is your baby racist?" is probably a false question, meaning its just to pull you in. It intrigues people though and makes you want to read it just in case babies are really racist. This is essentially yellow journalism. Its pulling you in with false information, that being that babies are racist.

Although we didn´t claim it through military force, we still claimed it for resources. The main resource that we needed was lumber.
