-The Taj Mahal is usually thought of as two things. One is being a mosque and the other is being a tomb(mausoleum).
-The Taj Mahal was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, he built it in memory of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who sadly died after giving birth to her 14th child.
-It Stands on the southern bank of the Yamura river in agra, india, where construction started in 1632 AD and was completed in 1648 AD
-The Taj Mahal is considered to be one the greatest architectural achievement in the whole range of indo islamic architecture.
-Shah Jahan was overthrown by his third son with Mumtaz Mahal, Aurangzeb, who then sent his ailing father to a tower at Red Fort hwere he was placed under house arrest in 1658, in that tower Shah Jahan had view of the building he had constructed for wife, he died in 1666 and was buried next to her.

-Surprisingly one of the most famous buildings in the Muslim tradition reflecting love.

-Long ago Islam was seen as a religion of love, for friends, intimates, and god, this was central theme for the Islam religion, and still is, just perceived a lot different by outsiders.

-“Islam is a religion of peace”, “Islam is a religion of love”

-It can mean many things to many people, but it's also a reminder of the time when the core of the muslim faith was love.

-Overall more than 20,000 workers from India, Persia, Europe, and the Ottoman Empire were brought in to build the mausoleum complex including about 1,000 elephants .
-The Taj Mahal was constructed with white marble that was essentially mixed with semiprecious stones like jade, crystal, lapislázuli, amethyst, and turquoise. This caused some very unique designs to be formed, with a technique known as Pietra Dura
-One of the main parts of this Mosque is its central Dome, it reaches a height of 240 feet and it's surrounded by four smaller domes, four slender towers.
-One of the unique things about the Taj Mahal is its Rhythmic combinations of solids and voids, concave and convex and light shadow, another thing that adds to the building's aesthetic beauty is the use arches and domes, the combination of all these things is one of the reasons why its such a unique piece of architecture.
-The rest of the complex includes a main gateway of red sandstone and a square garden divided into quarters by long pools of water.
- One of the most remarkable and unique aspects of the Taj Mahal is its small details of perfection on the tombs inside.

-The Frames throughout the building are inlaid with stones that essentially form perfect shapes of flowers. Something that added to the perfect representation of the flowers were the hues and shades that the stone made. The Tomb of Mumtaz Mahal is perfectly placed in the center of the tomb chamber, its the tomb itself is a rectangular prism/platform decorated with inlaid flowers and plants.

-It's a very symmetrical building that has a clearly empathizes its bilateral symmetry, this goes along the central axis where its symmetry is most noticeable. another thing that the Taj Mahal holds is a combination of certain colors of its landscape that changes moods and shades as the day goes along. The colors green and red on the pathway mix with the main buildings color pearl white with the sky blue in the background, making it a perfect balance of colors.
