My name is Melanie *awkwardly waves hand*! I am in pursuit of a degree that will allow me to be an elementary school teacher and I am so excited! My passions in life could be summed up with three P's: people, (film) photography, and (The Green Bay) Packers. I enjoy being around nature and my favorite spot on this entire beautiful earth is where I took this background photo, The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. My current obsession is the new musical called The Greatest Showman. I'm seeing it tomorrow for the third time this week... SO GOOD. My thoughts are often scattered and I think this post definitely proves that!

I went to UND and graduated in 2014 and then some months later moved to Montana for a year (before deciding to come back home to Grand Forks to save money and go back to school). While in Montana I did my best to take advantage of the nature around me, and my cousin and I would often drive the hour and a half to Yellowstone. Here's a video I made of one of our little trips. It makes me feel all of the nostalgic feels.

Learning Goals

1. Like I'm sure the majority of you do, I hope to finish this course with an A.
2. I want to actually soak in and retain the information I learn in this course. I have a feeling it will be beneficial throughout my life and teaching career. I don't want to just do the work and finish the semester and forget everything!

Reasons for taking this course

1. I am taking this course because it is important to be educated on Special Education if I'm going to be a teacher. Many children have disabilities and I want to be the best teacher I can be for each of my students!
2. I'm currently a part-time substitute teacher and I believe the information I learn in this course will allow me to be a better sub as well!

I really enjoy a good TV binge and TV shows in general. Some of my favorite shows are Boy Meets World, The X-Files, This Is Us, Riverdale, Stranger Things, Dawson's Creek, Friends, Seinfeld, New Girl, etc. etc.The Wonder Years is my absolute favorite show of all time and is my current binge. It's emotional and nostalgic which are two words that describe me best. One of my resolutions for 2k18 was to binge less. I already broke it...honestly, when it's so cold out, what else is there to do?

These cutie patooties are my nephews, James and Jesse. They two of my favorite humans on this earth. Jesse (who is 1 and a half) said my "Maw" this week, which translates to "Mel", which is my name...I guess you could say my year is going pretty dang well so far.
