It Depends on the product- Sydney Weaver

For me buying Fair Trade is not a black and white matter. For me, it depends on the product and what I intent to do with it. For example with flowers because no matter where they are sourced they have a short life once cut and put in a vase; buying Fair Trade flowers does not as much to me.
In a case of chocolate, I would consider buying Fair Trade chocolate, if I was buying it in a small quantity as buying it in a large quantity I could sadly not justify paying the increased price.
In both of these examples I would be slurping, but being budget conscious. So if I could not go too over board on cost and buying fair trade was not overly expensive, than I would. But, for me it is a case, by case basis.

For myself, I don't buy chocolate very often, but when I do I buy the name brand bars you can get at any convenience store. So buying free trade chocolate is usually not an option. If I was given the choice between free trade chocolate and non free trade chocolate, I would spend the extra money to get the free trade product. The same thing can be said for all the other products, if both options were at the store I would probably spend a little extra money to get the free trade products but I would not spend a ridiculously high price to get it. As well I wouldn't go out of my way to another store to pick it up.

When presented with a choice, I would pay a higher price for an item that is certified by Fair Trade. It is important to me that the people involved in the initial stages of the making of the product are supported. I would probably be more conscious about buying products from Free Trade if it would last for awhile (ex. cocoa), since the effort put into production would be greater. But, if I was quickly running into the store to buy a product, it is unlikely that my first thought would be to look at whether it was certified by free trade. That being said, if a free-trade product was not available at the store, I would not go to another store just to buy one that was.

It is not commonly seen or advertised offers Fair Trade. We would research the legitimacy of the brand and its claim of Fair Trade. But if the brand was public about it's commitment to Fair Trade, then we would definitely chose a different store that would offer Fair Trade. However, if the price of the product is too high, then that would be a heavy factor which would weigh against our choice to buy the product.

When presented with a choice to buy fair trade at a higher price, or non-fair trade at a lower price, I would most likely choose the lower priced item. Very honestly, I go to work and make my own money. I use that to buy necessities such as clothes and food for myself, etc. So when I am buying everything with a limited income, it is not always in my budget to buy higher priced products. Therefore, if the choice is between going to Walmart to shop and going to Whole Foods, I would choose Walmart, which offers mostly non-fair trade items.

When presented with a choice, I would chose to buy far trade. I work hard for my money, and so do the people involved in producing the item. Fair trade makes sure that the people involved with the raw materials, and beginning stages of the product can earn a living. I want to make sure the people involved with the product I am purchasing are being supported. Of course I would only purchase the higher priced fair trade item if the company and item had a positive and certified history of fair trade. Eventually the decision would fall on my budget, can I afford the item in question, if yes I will most definitely purchase fair trade items.

If I had to choose between fair trade items at a higher value or non-fair trade items I would choose the higher value. Even though the item will cost more I know that the people involved in making and trading the products are being cared for. I would rather save up my money and know what I'm about to buy is worth it. I feel as if I would use it and appreciate it more.

If I was given a choice between a fair trade product and a regular product I would probably choose the fair trade product as long as the fair trade product was not too much more expensive. I would love to support small businesses and people who need those extra dollars for their business. I am usually on a budget when I am shopping so as long as there was not a very large price difference I would choose the fair trade product. It also would depend on if they were both being sold at the same store. I would likely choose the product that was at the closest store as I do not always have access to a car for transportation.
