Considering my shaky start in year 10 french, I was surprised and happy with my performance for the exam. I'm happy with my reading and speaking score.

Generally speaking I don't think that there's anything wrong with the way French is being taught. I think that most of the problems (especially with writing and listening) come from lack of revision and practice.

What I did well
- Reading, as I felt confident while doing it. I also had the highest marks in this
- My specific strength was how I could identify statements through key words.

How did the Exams go
- I felt that my responses were thorough. The exams were easier than I expected, but were not "easy" as such.
- I felt that my listening and speaking could have been better. I thought that I stuttered in the speaking, and I had trouble understanding what was being said the exam.

It would be better if
- I understood the listening.
- I did well on the grammar and punctuation for my writing.

Despite how stressed I was for the exam, I'm actually very happy with the score I achieved on the exam. I did a lot better than I thought I would.

What went well :
- My ability to write a cohesive piece of writing with accuracy and a range of language devices really surprised me (this was my best mark out of all the sections)
- The reading was relatively straightforward and easy to understand, and I am happy with my mark for that section of the exam

What I need to improve on :
In the future, I should do more revision for the listening and speaking sections of the exam, as they were my 2 worst scores.
- I should revise more for listening not only by doing practice tests but by listening to French radio, television, movies, audiobooks... anything spoken in French that I can get my hands on so that I can learn how to understand spoken French better and not only improve my ability to listen to it more quickly, but identify the main problems I have with listening so that I can work on them
- For speaking, I should try and speak as much French as possible so that I can gain some sort of ability to speak in French. I should try and implement some sort of system where I write an overview of my day/week and tell it to people, aiming to use a range of language devices and making sure my pronunciation is correct. Not only will this improve my speaking ability, but it will also improve my written fluency.

Overall, I am very happy with my exam results, but I think there are a lot of ways I can improve without adding too much to my workload.
