         <description><![CDATA[<div>- Pizarro was able to take over the Inca because they had been fighting among themselves to decide who was going to become the next emperor, so they were weak and Pizarro took advantage of this<br>- Machu Picchu is a current day tourist attraction that had over 200 buildings made with stones that fit perfectly together and they didn't use cement to hold them together<br>- Quipu was their written language since they didn't have one - it was strings knotted together in a particular way that could be "read" by specially trained men.&nbsp; They used Quipu to pass along messages and keep track of important events.<br>- Because their land spanned over hundreds of miles, they used a human messenger system to get messages and information from one part of the empire to another.&nbsp; To help with this, they built over 14,000 miles of roads, and hundreds of bridges to connect their empire.<br>- They built many of their buildings out of stone that were cut to fit perfectly together and they did not use cement to stick them together<br>- Since much of their land was in the mountains, they used terrace farming (steps built into the sides of the mountains) so they had flat surfaces to grow crops<br>- They built canals to bring water to crops when it didn't rain, much like an irrigation system</div>]]></description>
