Allowing children opprotunites to try something new is a important aspect of many caregiving practices. Within the video the child learns what their parent responsibilites are and how to attempt these practices. Giving the child a safe space to try new things without feeling judgment is important to providde a child who is growing into their personality as well as attempting new skills. Although sometimes overlooked in other districs the CYC does a amazing job of providing this safe space for theie students. I hope to provide many different aspects of learning materials in my future classroom. For example, within the CYC are sensory bins filled with sand and toys for the children to play in to experience different sensory inputs. Many things are switched in and out of the sensory bin. For example, as they were learning about temperature, the sensory bin had ice cubes, and in another bin was warm water with color-changing figures. At the CYC the students have thr opprotunity to explore the nature playground availble for them. After time spent with the students, they voiced how enjoyable it is to connect what they are learning in class to the enviroment around them. For example the children were learning about bees and how they collect pollen and spread it around to create more flowers. First hand the children were able to see a bee going from flower to flower and experience what theyh were learning right infront of them. This practice involves children playing together to solve a problem or working on the same thing to achieve a unified goal. In the classroom, I watched students work on puzzles together and problem-solve throughout the play experience to finish their art pieces collectively. Many schools emphasize memorization of materials and high test grades rather than allowing students to grasp the materials in their own unique ways. As I move towards becoming a teacher, I hope to nourish my student's love for school rather than their fear of test grades. I want to teach my students to love school and the environment they are in each day on their academic journey. Many older schooling practices are based on numbers the students can provide to better the school. This should not be a priority when teaching the youth materials that could better their lives more than memorizing and putting them on a page.
