Rex knew that Jeannette didn't have enough money to pay for her loans so rex and Jeannette said, "Dad, I said, you guys need this money more than I do.
It's yours, Dad said. Since when is it wrong for a father to take care of his little girl?"
This is an example of when Rex was trying to give money to Jeannette to pay off her loan from her school to keep studying. Jeannette kept refusing the money since she knew her parents needed it the most, but she did accept it knowing she really need it to be in school. This picture represents Rex giving money to Jeannette when she could afford to pay off her loan.

Broken Promises is when one says they will do something for you and never end up doing it.

Rex had drawn out the glass castle and showed Jeannette that he will finally build it after seeing he was finally failing her. “I started at the plans. Dad, I said, you will never build the Glass Castle. Are you saying you don’t have faith in your man? Even if you do, I’ll be gone. In less than three months, I’m leaving for New York City. “
This is an example of when Rex had drawn out the sketch for the glass castle trying to convince Jeannette to stay. Jeannette knew her father will never have the money or the time to build that glass castle, she knew it was going to be one of his broken promises once again. This picture represents when Rex started planning to build The Glass Castle.

Billy had came in shooting at Jeannette, Lori, Brian, and Maureen which lead off to this, "That's just a toy, Billy said, but his voice was a little shaky.
It's real, all right! I shouted. It's my dad's gun!
If it is, he said, she ain't got the cojones to use it.
Try me, Lori told him.
Go on, then, Billy said. Shoot me and see what happens."
This is an example of Billy coming in with a BB gun shooting at them and having to get Rex's gun to defend themselves. Lori knew with her dad's gun they can defend themselves from billy which had led to a shoot-off between each other. I chose this picture to represent when Billy came attacking Lori, Brian, Jeannette, and Maureen.

Erma was attacked by Lori and Jeannette when, " I went into Grandpa's bedroom and saw Erma kneeling on the floor in front of Brian, grabbing at the crotch of his pants, squeezing and kneading while mumbling to herself and telling Brian to hold still, goddammit.
I don't care what happened! he yelled.
But we were just protecting ourselves, I said.
Brian's a man, he can take it, he said."
This is an example of Erma trying to keep the situation of her touching Brian quiet and not having anybody know about it. Rex had let his kids down by not defending his son when he was sexually abused by his own grandmother, instead of defending him he had just said he can take it knowing he was just a young Lil boy getting taken advantage of by his own grandmother. I chose that pick because when Erma was sexually assaulting Brian she wanted him to stay low about it.

Forgiveness to someone that has put you through a lot but you have finally forgave them for their actions.

When Jeannette finds out her dad is dying she had a Lil regret about things, but she and rex had a nice conversation before she had to leave" Dad, I said, I'm sorry, I really should have asked you to my graduation.
To hell with that. he laughed. ceremonies never did mean diddly to me. he took another pull of his magnum. I got a lot to regret about my life, he said. but I'm god damn proud of you, mountain goat, the way you turned out. Whenever I think of you, I figure I must have done something right. Course you did."
This is an example of the theme of Jeannette forgiving her dad even tho it isn't proper forgiveness she knew that her dad will always be there for her and support her in her journey. All in all, Jeannette knew her dad always had her back and had never let her down. I chose this picture because it represents Rex and Jeannette forgiving each other before leaving their apartment.

Jeannette was cooking hot dogs when "Frozen with fear, I watched the yellow-white flames make a ragged brown line up the pink fabric of my skirt and climb my stomach. Then the flames led up, reaching my face. I screamed. I smelled the burning and heard a horrible crackling as the fire singed my hair and eyelashes. Juju was barking. I screamed again."
This is an example of the theme because when Jeannette was cooking her skirt caught on fire while cooking the hot dogs causing her dress, hair, and face to catch fire. This could have affected Jeannette in many ways but thank god for her screaming her mom got there in time to take out the fire. I used this picture to represent when Jeannette caught on fire while cooking hot dogs.
