Systemic Racism is a constant barrier that prevents upward mobility for many people of color. The rates of incarceration, housing discrimination, and employment make it difficult for people of color to make social advancement. The video about employment states that " out of every 100,000 Americans about 700 are incarcerated, but out of every 100,000 Black men over 4,000 are incarcerated." A loop is then formed as people who have been incarcerated may struggle to find stable, and well-paying jobs, causing them to get a worse education. This shows how systemic racism can be a hindrance to people of color, as they find it difficult to break the cycle. The never-ending pattern of poverty and the lack of education is extremely hard to get out of, however, it is still possible. It is evident that systemic racism is a notable challenge for people of color who are seeking socioeconomic advancement.
