In this case, because of time period in which this book was released, it was interpreted as a political statement by adults.  While the true meaning of love was relayed through the reading experience of the children who read it, adults still chose to ban the book and keep its content from children.</div>]]></description>

This may be why parents feel the need to censor what their children read.  From a parent's point of view, protecting their children from what they believe is dangerous or unknown. A parent's experiences and beliefs in life may cause them to disagree with the content of a book and seek to ban it.</div>]]></description>
