Hispanic refers to people of Spanish-speaking origin. Because Brazilians speak Portuguese, they would not be Hispanic. However, someone from Spain would be Hispanic. Spanish is a language, but it's also a term referring to nationality. Just because a person speaks Spanish, doesn't mean they are Spanish. Latino is more of a geographic term, referencing to people from Latin American origin.
