Good Day! My name is James Nathaniel Fernandez Tan. I am currently a student at Mapua Malayan Colleges Mindanao (MMCM). I am studying information systems, or BSIS, which is somewhat similar to computer science but is more into networking and security. During my first year here at MMCM, things were somewhat stressful, and school life was very busy. Currently, in my second year, it is still very hard. I am aspiring to be a networking or security administrator someday in the future. Although some might think that minor subjects aren't that related to, say, IT, there might be some day that it might be useful. Knowing how media could affect society and change it is an important thing to know. People just tend to be ignorant about technology and its effects.

Philippine Pop Culture Interests

Sports: Although I don't play sports (live) that much, I am interested in watching Filipino athletes play and compete, especially during the recent Olympics event. Filipino athletes don't really get that much support from their people; only the famous ones like Manny get fame, while others who also try their best don't get support from the media.

Trending Food: Nowadays, social media is a platform that spreads information and sometimes makes you interested in trying out new types of food. I would say that this is a pop culture interest since technology influenced me to purchase and consume this product.

Language: I'm not really good at speaking Filipino, but what inspires me is that the language is just beautiful. For me, it showcases passion and can truly express one's affection for another, and that is why I like to listen to Filipino pop music and OPM.

Trending Movies/Shows: Watching films produced by both Filipino and international directors somewhat makes me feel relaxed. As stress piles up in school, taking a break to watch the movies is a great way to destress

Pop Music/OPM: For me, music made by Filipino artists is diverse, incorporating mixes of genres. I enjoy listening to OPM and the latest pop music by Filipino artists. To be honest, they should deserve more respect and fame here in our country, as lots of people don't really listen to Filipino artists.
