Universal design for learning (UDL) is a framework created to benefit all students in order to give them equal opportunities regardless of their background in Race. in previous designs for learning in the classroom teachers often taught in a one lesson fits all students manner however by using this framework it allows barriers to be broken in order to better the students education.

OER stands for open educational resources. This is a site where teachers are able to access resources they may need in the class. Like the UDL this source was created to allow equal opportunities in education, regardless of a student's/school's economic stance. These tools can be used together to better the education of students that come from different, diverse backgrounds. The UDL helps with equity, because it focuses more on the student, The UDL helps with equity, because it focuses more on the student, before students were taught to memorize information and later on reiterate what they had learned. later on we learned that this method of learning is actually ineffective. By creating a lesson, where equity is the main focus students will be able to retain information more accurately. This can then be used with a OER. In order to give all students the equal opportunity to achieve academic greatness. It is important that the students themselves have the resources to learn the information needed. By having the OER combined with the UDL it makes the teachers lesson plan that much more effective.

how do these affect me as a future educator

Learning about the UDL & OER affects me positively as a future educator. In the future, although I hope the school I teach at has all the resources possible that is not very realistic. Now that I know about the OER I will be able to support my students regardless of the schools financial stance. Since I am going to be an elementary school teacher, I will be teaching all of the subjects because of that it is important that I give my students choices when it comes to giving them more complex lessons. Although I did not see the UDL being used when I was in high school, I can now see how effective the UDL can be when combined with the OER. Now that I am in College my professors use the UDL in the classroom and it makes me want to do my work more. By having the option to showcase my intelligence in different ways, it allows me to stay more motivated, because I am the one who chose to complete the assignment in that way. When students are given options, and they choose which one they would like to go with it often results in creating a positive learning environment, which means more students will be motivated to attend class. This is very important to me becuase i want to tech my students tht learning can be fun.

why use UDL

it is important for teachers to UDL because the US is one of the most diverse countries in the world. By using that UDL they allow a student to shine as bright as they can, regardless of their race and economic status. The UTL allows students to showcase their intelligence in a way that works best for them. The UTL often uses different options when it comes to assignments. This is very effective, because if there is a student who is an excellent speaker, but is very bad at writing essays, and allows the student to choose the assignment option where they can showcase their strongest skills. It is important to use the UDL, because every student learns different, and every student expresses their intelligence in different ways.

You may be thinking, why are use the OER but a better question is why not use the OER? The OER can be used as a tool in the classroom when a school is unable to provide the classroom with the resources needed. In the OER teachers are able to access curriculum approved, data and resources. Along with that the resources available are also licensed, which further proves that the information on this site is not some random person posting incorrect information. When teaching in a school that has a lack of resources the OER can come in very handy because it also includes stemma textbooks, which can be used in the classroom.

The OER is very beneficial For other reading materials it often cost a lot of money and and get out of date. By using the OTR, this brings down the cost drastically because access to it is free. The OER is also constantly being updated by professionals so using it ensures that you are using the best materials bing used at that moment.
