We were in spring and the afternoon was pleasant.

At this time of the year, during Easter holidays, I always enjoyed spending a few days at my grandparents' farm, away from the noise of the city.

This afternoon I felt something special: I felt strange, a little sad and lonely.

My grandmother had invited three of her best friends to have tea, outside in the garden, under the shade of the pine tree she loved so much.

I preferred to stay with my grandfather in the living-room instead. My grandmother prepared my favorite snack, left it on the table and went to meet her friends.

My grandfather was a little tired and loved to take a nap: in five minutes he fell asleep!

I decided to go outside and share what was left of my snack with Bobby and Sergeant, the farm dogs.

After a while I decided to wake my grandfather up and invite him to a game of cards. I had no luck: he just wanted to rest.

What should I do? I soon remembered the attic, one of my favorite places in the house, where I used to look for old objects, abandoned toys, and especially my grandmother’s tin box collection …

This time I discovered, inside a tin box, some drinking straws. Those straws were not strange to me! Ah, yes, the ice teas that my grandfather and I used to drink whenever we went to the popular fair, in the village.

They gave me an idea: I was going to spend the rest of the afternoon making soap bubbles with those straws.

And so I did. I am always surprised to see them fly for a few seconds, to see the reflections of the garden in each ball, for a moment.

When my grandfather finally woke up and went out into the garden, he immediately recognized the straws. He told me that it was he who had kept them as souvenirs.

So we sat by the wall, and spent the rest of the afternoon together, blowing soap bubbles and remembering the funny moments we had spent at the popular fair.
