He is an icon to all of America, as he was the shortest player ever to play professional basketball, as he only stood at a mere 5 feet 3 inches. During his career in the NBA muggsy played as a point guard for several different teams. He played college basketball at WakeForest University where he was an All American. Later he was Drafted in the 1987 NBA Draft by the Washington Bullets, where he was acompunied by 7'7 center manute Boll ( the Tallest NBA player to ever play the game.) Muggsy played one season with the Bullets then left to play 10 seasons with the charlotte hornets where he was famous for playing. He was known for his unselfish play and his ability to steal the ball on defense. Though all these abilities seem like just talent and the natrual athletic ability, muggsy trained his entire life to achieve a dream that seemed once distant to this small basketball player. One reason why diversity has in sports has changed drastically is because of many athletes such as Muggsy Bogues. Athletes like Muggsy have proved to others that no matter what your race, disablitie , height, or gender is, you can still be successful. Therefore, the reason that sports were not diverse before these players, is because no one believed that anyone that had a disadvantage to others, could be a succesesful player or role model.
