Both have extreme poverty. In Malawi there is widespread poverty people often suffer from hunger. In Brazil however, there is a lot of inequality with a large gap between rich and poor. Poor people often live in slums called favelas. Favelas can be very dangerous as gangs tend to run them with the police to afraid to enter.
