I believe the importance of heart and head in education is to work together as one in balance. Your class needs passion to be engaging, because emotion plays an immense work on long term memory/knowledge acquisition. Your class needs planning, it needs a routine, a moment so students can understand what is going on ut at the same time, know they are absolutely welcome to be active and proactive in their classroom.

Both are extremely important because of their meanings. You need to have a head to make the biochemical connections when learning something new, but nothing really matters if you don’t put your heart into it — that’s the only way to truly make a difference in your students’ lives. If you try to remember your favorite subject from school, I bet what comes to mind are the positive experiences you had during that time — maybe even more than the theoretical content itself.
