Claim: Does suspending kids work?
Support: 1.)It doesn't do a lot for kids because now they miss school because they did something wrong and most of the kids don't get anything out of it because unlike detention they would sit in a quiet room in school to realize what they have done.
Type of evidence used: The article used facts by what happens to kids after and when they get suspended and proves that suspensions do hurt kids.
2.)When a kid gets suspended, while their gone from school all of the assignments during the suspension are automatic 0's and they first get and trouble and then the school just starts to fail them. that really teaches kids nothing because it just flunks and it starts a whole other story.
A.) the purpose of this text is to show that suspending kids from school doesn't help.
B.) The rhetorical device being used is imagery because it gave us a lot of really bad reasons kids got suspended for little acts that could affect their academics.
C.)Logos
D.)Imagery and Logos was used to show that suspending people doesn't help the student succeed, and learn their lesson. The article proves some of the littlest things can lead to a big punishment and have facts to prove it.

Claim: Racism is still happening in America and it happens at anytime and anywhere.
Support: 1.) At the Elder basketball game the student section were yelling racial slurs at the opponent basketball team.
Type of evidence used: the articles/reports used facts and dates to prove the racial tension in schools.
2.) A student at a Mason Ohio High School posted a video on Social Media containing racial stereotypes.
A.)The purpose of this text was to show that racist remarks are still being made anywhere in America and unfortunately happens often.
B.) The rhetorical device being used is negative connotation because racism in america is a serious matter and it needed to be written in this form to make the racial tension stand out.
C.)Pathos
D.)The article used a negative connotation with pathos to show how racism is a serious subject and it tried to get people to think of others and what they have to go through being a different race.

Claim: LGBTQ Rights have always been a thing people have been fighting for in America since 1924.
Support:1.) During the early 1900's society wouldn't tolerate gay people and were really harsh them as a society.
Type of evidence used: The article used dates to prove their point of how LGBTQ rights weren't reconized in america
2.) The US Post Office refused to deliver mail to the first gay publication.
A.) The purpose of this text was to show how bad things were for gay people back then and the journey of them gaining those rights in America as if they were straight.
B.) Tone was the rhetorical device used here because this was something that was needed for this claim because its an overlooked subject and the writers had good tone on how they felt they have been treated in America.
C.) Logos
D.) The article used tone and facts to show how scarce conditions/rights were for LGBTQ people and they used dates to show these events.
3.) My personal reaction was that i was surprised how bad LGBTQ people were being treated back then and how much they over come.
