1. Including only hook/assessment/links/connections/ as needed, not every day (sometimes lessons are carried out over several days)

2. only having "active engagement" since all the things listed in the "teaching" are included within the active engagement.
3. Omitting centers/independent practice from the format since most of our individual lesson planners have a designated area for these.
** these changes may vary by grade level? Since some grade levels are simpler TEKS and others are very deep.

We are afraid that the lessons will be so long, they will be difficult to read. Right now the lesson plans are about on the average 25 pages long. Already some of us use a quick check format (copying a shortened version of lesson plan by hand). Are these supposed to be "scripted" word-for-word what to say?
Standards WE already put the TEKS on plans so why do we also need put the Standards?
Independent Practice (stations):
Difficult to do for literacy stations/math stations as we do not change these every week and may vary between classrooms.
Small Group (Teacher Table): This varies between classrooms and limits flexibility with guided reading groups.

We don't like the section that says "Teaching Skill, Strategy, and Purpose." We feel this is redundant in that it is already listed with the TEKS posted at the top of the lesson, the lesson objective, and the lesson plan itself. It is taking hours to convert our plans from the old format to the new format.

Could we have a more simplified format:
TEKS in the designated box
Content Objective
Language Objective
Vocabulary
Materials/Resources/Links
Instructional Plan
Assessment
